Correspondence added 02 April 2015 Passengers #64-66, 125-126 COMMANE
I have just come across this ISTG list from the Jeannie Johnston Ship which
sailed from Tralee in March and arrived Baltimore May 4, 1849. I have seen
the hand written list. On that one my great great grandfather Daniel Commane
and wife Mary are shown along with son Edmond. Additionally the original list
shows sons Michael and my grand father John who was their youngest. Everything
following the family shows the three boys were all born in Ireland.
ISTG line 125 and line 126 shows Mary age 26, and John age 8. ISTG does not
list their child Michael also born in Ireland. Thought you might want to know
this information.
Thank you,
Elizabeth Command

Daniel Dowd and Margaret Dowd were my great, great, great grandparents.
I have an old photo of Daniel, who became a farmer in Montgomery Co.
Maryland and a dairyman in Washington, D.C. until his death in 1870.
His wife Margaret died in 1874. Both are buried in Mt. Olivet Cemetery
in Washington, D.C. Their son John Dowd (my direct ancestor) arrived
the US some years after Daniel and Margaret's 1849 arrival in Baltimore.
Their infant daughter Mary, who arrived with them in 1849, married and
lived in Washington DC.
Daniel and Margaret Dowd's stone farm house still stands in Cabin John, Maryland.
The building that housed their dairy stone (store?) in Washington, DC still stands
at the corner of 14th and U streets.
