Affidavit of the Master or Commanding Officer or First or Second Officer I II Officer of the Cincinnati from Genova do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that I have caused the surgeon of said vessel sailing therewith or the surgeon employed by the owners thereof to make a physical and oral examination of each and all of the aliens named in the forgoing Lists or Manifest Sheets 29 in number, and that from the report of said surgeon and from my own investigation, I believe that no one of the said aliens is an idiot, or imbecile, or a feeble minded person, or insane person, or a pauper, or is likely to become a public charge, or is afflicted with tuberculosis, or with a loathsome or dangerous contagious disease, or is a person who has been convicted of or who admits having committed a felony or other crime or misdemeanor involving moral turpitude or is a polygamist or one admitting belief in the practice of polygamy or an anarchist, or under promise or agreement express or implied to perform labor in the United States, or a prostitute, or a woman or girl coming to the united states for the purpose of prostitution, or for any other immoral purpose, and that also, according to the best of my knowledge and belief, the information in the said List or Manifests concerning each of said aliens named therin is correct and true in every respect. This Manifest indicates the ship left Genova on 2 April, Naples on 3 April, and Palermo on
4 April. This page has the number 60 stamped on the top and bottom of the given name column
and the number 211 is written on the top left of the page. In the top where NAME is printed,
the number 33 is written. This manuscript page is written dark and is fairly easy to read,
though many items were written over, to clarify them by hand other than the recorder. Much
of these are still not clear. Nationality to last residence columns have ditto marks from
first passenger
Recorders, often used the word ditto or the symbol for ditto. This transcriber has replaced
all ditto marks with the information referred to. The recorder wrote the gender as m for
masculine, and f for feminine, and marital status as M for married, and S for single. This
transcriber has typed these as they are seen on the manuscript. The cities given may be a
small section of the larger city or a town outside it. Many were not found in the Atlas.
The destinations of NJ and NY, the second letters look much the same as written by this
recorder. Often only the city reveals what state it is. The writing by the recorder is
somewhat small and scratchy. Some is fairly easy to read since it is dark, but not all.
Last residences of passenger and relative from 1308 to 1322 look very similar, but have
slight differences in the writing. Because the first letter in each is not clear, transcriber
can not look these up in the Atlas.
Passenger 1308 on this page is lined out. This usually means that the passenger was not on
this ship. They do not have a check before their surnames, between age and gender, or Final
Destination as all other passengers do. The nearest relative information is often visible
either below, above, or through these lines. The number of passengers making this trip were
written below the last residences. Of 30 passengers written on these pages, 29 made this
passage.
The Italian language has no letter j, k, w, x, or y.

1293 Santamassino, brackets connect this passenger with 1294 and 1295, between the surname and
age and the nearest relative columns. Numbers are above occupation to able to read and write

These numbers are a verification for naturalization purposes, usually done after 1926. The

1295 Santamassino, the word daughter is written in the surname column. Brackets connect this
passenger with 1293 and 1294, between the surname and age and the nearest relative columns.
Occupation is written as none. Relationship and name of father are written in line of 1294,
his city is written on line for this passenger. Nothing similar was found in the atlas.

1296 ?inelli, surname was written over, bolder by another hand to clarify it, but the first letter
is not clear. It maybe an S, T, or any other letter. Letter before the double l maybe an i as
it looks to have a dot over it. If it is either of these, surname would be Sinelli or Sinille,
or Tinelli or Tinilli. Brackets connect this passenger with 1297 to 1299 between the surname
and age and to 1297 before the nearest relative columns. The word cousin after the given name
of 1298 and what maybe Brother in for 1299. This word looks like the ink skipped and only the
B is clear. It is not clear who these passengers are related to. Last residence for passenger
looks like Noei and for father looks like Nocr or Noer. The only similar ones found are Noecra
and Norma which are too long, Nola and Noto, but there is no tall letter written here, and Novi
Ligure, but the questionable letter does not look like a v in either, and the second word is
not there. The relationship and name of father are written on the line of this passenger.
Destination has ditto marks from 1293.

1296 to 1299 between the surname and age and to 1297 before the nearest relative columns. Age
is not clear, it looks like it maybe 19, but the loop of the 9 is not closed, The word cousin

like the ink skipped, only the B is clear. Brackets connect this passenger with 1296 to 1298
between the surname and age column. Cousin is written after the given name of 1298. It is not
clear who these passengers are related to. Last residence and destination have ditto marks from
1293.
1300 A?iroballe, first letter or letters were written over, darker by another hand to clarify it,
but it does not. It looks like there is another letter after the first, but it is not readable.
Before the page line number, 8 the number 459 is written. Transcriber does not know what this
is for. Last residence of passenger is not clear, the letters are close together and small, but
that of the father is quite clear, but nothing similar was found in the Atlas.
1301 Gia?o?a, first letter or letters of surname were written over, darker by another hand to clarify
it, but the one by the recorder is quite clear. Surname letters are not clear, but maybe Giacosa
or Giacota. Last residence of passenger has ditto marks from 1300, but for the father it is
written out. City of destination is very light, as if the ink skipped. It may begin with an A
rather than a C or a B, and looks like two words. The second letter of the first word looks like
an h or l, and the second letter of the second word looks like an h or l also. Transcriber can
not make these words out, only what is above. Nothing similar beginning with Ah, Al, or Ch or Cl
was found in the Atlas. Under B, the only one similar found was Blue Island.
1302 Gavina, the word ADMITTED is stamped over the line number, before the surname and SI is written
beneath it. This indicates that either this passenger or the next passenger was held for Special
Inquiry, or was in the hospital and then released to be admitted into the States. Often when two
or more traveled together, and one was held for a special inquiry or to the hospital the others
were also kept back from entering. A bracket between given name and age columns connects 1303
and this passenger. A word that begins with g is written next to the given name of 1303 but it
is not clear. It looks to end in ond or and. Last residence of passenger has ditto marks from
1300 and uncle from 1301. Destination has ditto marks from 1301.

1304 Pot?ere, the middle letter or letters of the surname were written over, darker by another hand
to clarify it, but it does not. It maybe Posteare or Poteare. Given name is written as two names.
Last residence of passenger has ditto marks from 1300, and of father from 1301. Destination has
ditto marks from 1301
1305 Di?bi??se, first letter of surname was written over, darker by another hand to clarify it, but
by the recorder it seems clear enough. This writing may have covered the second letter as well.
Transcriber can only make out what looks like Di?briase, but it maybe Dibiazse or Dribruzse.
Last residence of passenger has ditto marks from 1300 and uncle from 1301. Destination has
ditto marks from 1301.
1306 Mus??o, surname letters are not clear, fourth letter looks to be an x, but there is no x in the
Italian language. It maybe a c, or a second s. The next letter looks like a d, but is crossed
like a t. Surname maybe Mussdo, Muscdo, Mussto, or Muscto, but this last one is unlikely. Last
residence of passenger has ditto marks from 1300 and father from 1301. Destination city is not
clear, but looks like that of 1301. The only one similar found was Blue Island.
1307 Tibo, first letters of surname and given name were written over, darker by anther hand to
clarify them, but those by the recorder are quite clear. Age is not clear, it maybe 20 or 28.
Last residence of passenger has ditto marks from 1300 and father from 1301. Destination has
ditto marks from 1306.
1308 Tasg?i?io, passenger is crossed out by a thick line. This usually means that the passenger was
not on this ship. Thus, the surname is not able to be read. Some is above a lighter line, the
rest are very close together, and is lightly covered by the top of this line. It looks like it
may begin Tasgn or Targu, the rest is covered by the line. But two lines down, 1310 looks like
the same name. From the age to destination column most is written above the line, except for
the residences and the name of the wife. The residence of the passenger looks to begin with an
A, or G, as in Avcra, or Gocra. For the father it looks like it begins with an I, like Iocere,
but the bottom of it is covered so it can not be seen. The rest looks like ocere or oceri.
Nothing similar to any of these was found in the Atlas. The only one similar is Aversa, which
seems to have more letters than either. But the line might be covering the last letters.
Destination state maybe NJ or NY, second letters look the same by this recorder. The city is
written dark, but a few letters can not be made out. Transcriber can only read what is above.
Without a clear first letter it can not be searched for in the Atlas.
1309 Mariani, the word DEPORTED is stamped over the line number, before surname, and SI is written
or stamped beneath it. This indicates that either this passenger or the child was held for
Special Inquiry, or was in the hospital and then was deported back to Italy. Age looks more
like letters, h L than numbers, but maybe 24, the ink may have skipped on the first digit, the
second looks similar to that written for other passengers by this recorder. Residence of
passenger and father have ditto marks from 1308 who was crossed out. Name of wife is somewhat
blocked by the line crossing out the passenger above and is difficult to read. It looks to
begin like Aniotili or Onichil, but the end letters are not clear. Nothing similar beginning
with O was found, and the only similar name found is male, Anacleto. It is not long enough at
the end, but may have been feminized, ending as ina. Destination looks to be written over
darker by another hand, but the city is still not clear. It may begin with a H, but that is
not clear, as the g from the city above comes down over it. Most letters are very light and
though darker than the rest, the first letter can not be made out. The city looks to be two
words. In the first word, the last or next to last letter goes below the line like a g. The
second word is very light and may begin with an F or T, and also has one letter that goes below
the line, but it can not be made out. Without a clear first letter it can not be searched for
in the Atlas. Transcriber can only read what is above.
1310 Ta?g?i?i?o, something is written darker, just above the first letter of the surname by another
hand, that looks like PS or AX. Transcriber can not find what this notation means. Surname
letters are not clear, it maybe Tasgninio or Targunio. Residence of passenger and father have
ditto marks from 1308 who was crossed out Name of father is not clear, but is written small
and the letters are close together. It may begin with an E G, S or L as the recorder wrote
these in a similar manner. But it looks more like an E that this recorder wrote at times. The
only similar name found is Eustachio. Destination has ditto marks from 1309.
1311 Ia??an?ia, surname looks to be written over by another hand, especially the first letter, to
clarify it but does not. It looks to begin with either an I, L, or S, as Iattan, Lattan, Sattan.
The next letter is not clear,than io, and the last letter, if it is a letter, is not clear. It
looks like a curl on the top left of the o. This recorder ended his o as a simple circular form,
without a line after it. Transcriber can not guess what it is. Occupation also seems to be
written over by another hand, or something was written which transcriber can not make out.
Residence of passenger and father have ditto marks from 1308 who was crossed out.
1312 Mariani, surname was written over by another hand to clarify it, and is most likely her maiden
name, as was the custom of Italian women to use in that era. Given name has an M, than at the
top of the line is what looks to be a small a, then the given name. This is often seen within
this manuscript, but transcriber does not know what it stands for. Brackets connect this
passenger with 1313 and 1314, between the surname and age and the nearest relative columns. In
surname column of 1313 the word daughter is written with a surname written by another hand is
above that. For 1314, the word son is written in the surname column. Residence of passenger has
ditto marks from 1308 who was crossed out. Father and his name are written on the line of 1313,
his residence is written on line for 1314. Residence for father is written, but first letter is
not clear. It may begin with G, T, or V as in Gocea, Toceo, or Vocia. Nothing beginning with G
or V was found, and only one similar was found, Toce, but it is a river. Destination has ditto
marks from 1311
1313 P??rsutte, surname column has the word daughter written, with the surname written by another
hand, slightly above it. For 1314, the word son is written in the surname column with ditto
marks most likely for the written surname. Only this much of the written surname is able to be
read, as these letters are written right over the word daughter. Brackets connect this passenger
with 1312 and 1314, between the surname and age and the nearest relative columns. Given name is
hard to read, the letters are small and close together, it looks like Mariageazia or Manageasia.
The only similar one found is Margherita, but the letters placements don't fit. It maybe a
combination of two names, or a nickname, which was often done. Occupation has word none written
there. The residence of passenger has ditto marks from 1308 who was crossed out. Father and his
name are written on the line for this passenger, and his residence is written on line for 1314.
Since his name was written on the line of the parent, it is most likely the surname of the woman
and will be shown as such in the surname listing. Residence for father is written, but first
letter is not clear. It may begin with G, T, or V as in Gocea, Toceo, or Vocia. Nothing
beginning with G or V was found, and only one similar was found, Toce, but it is a river.

1315 Conti, surname of passenger is most likely her maiden name, as was the custom of Italian women
to use in that era. Surname brackets connect this passenger with 1315 and 1316, between the
surname and age and the nearest relative columns. Age is not clear, it maybe 22, 24, or 32, or
34. Occupation looks more like home wife than house wife. Residence of passenger has ditto marks
from 1308 who was crossed out, and for father is the same as 1314, but there are no ditto marks.
Father and his name are written on the line for this passenger, residence on the line for 1316.
1316 Morc??ni, surname column has the word daughter written and her surname written next to it. This
looks to have a check mark in the middle of it, as all passengers do after this column, but it
makes reading two of the letters difficult. Surname maybe Morciani or Morchini. Above the word
daughter numbers are written, VL a dot 663 a diagonal dash 83. VL stands for Verification of
Landing. The numbers usually refer to a New York file number where records of the transactions
were filed, but it not may not be related to this individual. These files held stacks of incoming
and outgoing letters on verification of landing matters, but these no longer survive. This
suggests this passenger was planning a trip, and needed a letter which was not a guarantee,
but greatly facilitated the immigrant's travel. They may be on a later passenger list. Brackets
connect this passenger with 1315 and 1316, between the surname and age and the nearest relative
columns. Occupation has none written in it. Numbers are also written from occupation to the
nationality column, 9 and what looks like an A, but maybe 917. a dash, 970 dash. Then like a
date 2 a diagonal dash, 26 a diagonal dash, 43. These numbers are a verification for
naturalization purposes, usually done after 1926. The first number is a naturalization district
number, though usually it is only numbers rather than a number and letter, the second set is
either an application number or the Certificate of Arrival number. The last set of numbers maybe
the date the person applied. Residence of passenger has ditto marks from 1308 who was crossed
out. The word father and his name are written on the line for 1315, residence is on the line for
this passenger. It is the same, but was written, not given dittos from 1314. Destination has
ditto marks from 1315.
1317 Gentile, age second digit is not clear, and maybe 14 or 19. Numbers are written from occupation
to race columns, 1 dash, 193466 or 143466 dash. Then like a date, the first number is not clear,
covered by the l of his occupation, it looks like an 8 a diagonal dash, 1 a diagonal dash, 36.
These numbers are a verification for naturalization purposes, usually done after 1926. The first
number is a naturalization district number, the second set is either an application number or
the Certificate of Arrival number. The last set of numbers maybe the date the person applied.
Residence of passenger has ditto marks from 1308 who was crossed out, and of mother has ditto
marks from 1316. Name of mother looks more like Luessi, the last letter looks to be dotted and
it maybe a nick name, or just an unintended mark on this copy. Nothing similar was found, other
than Lucia, or Luisa. Destination city is very scratchy and light at the end, like the ink
skipped, but looks like it maybe Bridgeport.
1318 Farchio??e, surname first letter was written over by another hand to clarify it, but by the
recorder is clear enough. Last letters are not clear, it looks to end in sxe, as Farchiosxe.
But since x is not in the Italian alphabet, it is most likely a z as Farchiosze. Age maybe 20
or 28, the second digit is not clear. Name of wife looks like Porolina or Pozolina, nothing
even close to this was found. It maybe her surname, as was the custom of Italian women to use
in that era. However, if it is a surname there is usually also a given name written. Transcriber
will list it as both in surname list. Residence of passenger has ditto marks from 1308 who was
crossed out, and of wife has ditto marks from 1316.
1319 Di ??focino, surname first letters of both prefix and second surname were written over by
another hand to clarify them, but it did not, the writing of the recorder is clear enough.
Surname looks to be Stefocino or Stefaino by the recorder. But by the second hand, the first
letter looks more like an A as Atefocino or Atefainoor, or an S. Age, second digit looks more
like a y than a number, it maybe either 14 or 19. Numbers are written in the occupation column,
1 dash, 254412 dash, then below that, like a date, 2 dash, 17 dash, 39. The first digit of the
last number looks written over, it maybe 19 or 39, as 1919 or 1939. These numbers are a
verification for naturalization purposes, usually done after 1926. The first number is a
naturalization district number, the second set is either an application number or the
Certificate of Arrival number. The last set of numbers maybe the date the person applied.

made out. Nothing similar to either of these was found in Mass.
1320 Di Ma????io, surname first letters of prefix were written over by another hand to clarify them,
but it did not, the writing of the recorder is clear enough. Second part of surname letters are
not clear, it looks like several pointed humps as if n was written over several times. It maybe
Massenio or Manusio, or a variation of these. Age first digit looks more like an L, but is
likely a 2. Residence of passenger has ditto marks from 1308 who was crossed out, and wife from
1316. Name of wife looks to begin with A or C, like Amtra, Cemzsa, or Anitsa Cenitra, none of
which are close to any Italian woman's name. The only similar ones found were, Cinzia, a form
of Cynthia, which looks closest to the writing, or Anita, though there it looks like two
letters, not one, written after the tall one.
1321 ???a Sotto, surname was written over by another hand to clarify them, but it did not. The
writing of the recorder looks like it may have been clear enough. It maybe two words, like
Cia Sotto, or one word, CiaSotta. It may also end in e,as it looks by the recorder. The C and S
are both written as capitol letters. Because it was written over it is not clear if there is a
space between or not. Age second digit is not clear, and maybe 14 or 19. Residence of passenger
has ditto marks from 1308 who was crossed out, and father from 1316. Destination, last letters
are not clear, but it looks to be Bridgeport.
1322 Galli, surname was written over it by another hand to clarify it. The writing of the recorder
looks like it may have been clear enough. Age first digit looks more like an L, but is likely
a 2. Residence of passenger has ditto marks from 1308 who was crossed out, and father from 1316.
Name of father is not clear, the letters are small and close together. It looks like Prosnbello
or Posntetto, but neither of these, nor anything similar was found. Transcriber will not guess
what it might be. Destination city is written light and small lettering, but is readable.
