Transcriber's Notes:
* is for error by the original recorder or to note other information on the copy added to the transcriber's notes.? Transcriber unable to read due to the quality of the copy, letters are too small, written over or elaborate writing.
This Manifest indicates the ship left Genova on 2 April, Naples on 3 April, and Palermo on 4 April. Page number, 52 is stamped on the top and bottom of the given name column. A number is written large and boldly on the top left corner of this page that looks like E03.
Recorders often used the word do or ditto for columns. All here have ditto marks in columns for nationality and race from the first line Passenger. Most passengers also have dittos in columns for gender, occupation, able to read and write, and passenger residences. This transcriber replaced all dittos with the information that is referred to. On this page the Occupation Farm lab was written for Farm Laborer in the first line, and ditto marks for successive passengers. Few here had other occupations stated. This recorder wrote the gender as m for masculine, or f for feminine, and marital status as M for married and S for single. Transcriber has typed these as they are seen on the manuscript. The cities of last residences may be a small section of the larger city or a town outside it. Most were unable to be found in the Atlas. Only the given name of the wife is given in the nearest relative column, no maiden name was written, as usually done. The hand writing of this recorder is somewhat difficult to make out, as the script is small and close together. Many letters are not always connected, and some letters look similar, like n and u, e and o. Some of the numbers bear no resemblance to old or newer numbers.
Passengers 1064, and 1075 are lined out. This usually means that the passenger was not on this ship. Neither has a check before their surnames, nor between age and gender as all other passengers do. The nearest relative information is often visible either below, above, or through these lines. Below the given names on the first page is written The number of passengers making this trip were written below the last residence columns. Of the 30 passengers on this page, 28 made this passage, which was written near the bottom of the page.
The Italian language has no letter j, k, or w, x, or y. The letter h is only used with ch or gh.
The passenger listing above is one page of this manifest. Both may be seen on the Ellis Island Web Site.

1053 Pellicoro, in last address for country USA was written over Italy, and NYC was written over city of what clearly looks like Geo in del Colle, no such city found in Atlas. After the final destination, NON IMM or Non Immigrant was stamped at the end of the line, a1054 Resota, last address has ditto marks from 1053, which was written over. City of destination is difficult to read, looks like Witton or Wilton. Written slightly above that, in very light script and by another hand, is another city, which looks to be N?lt??? or W?lt??. It may be a clarification of the city first recorder but this too is hard to read. Only one close found is Wilton, Conn.1055 Montione, surname recorders letters are not clear, maybe Moutione, most likely not Moutioue which is not an Italian spelling. Last address has ditto marks from 1053.1056 Bauchini, surname recorders letters are not clear, maybe Banchini. Relationship of relative looks more like frasello than fratello which is brother. Name of relative, Innocenzo is not really clear, but this is the one found that is most similar to the writing of the recorder.1057 Tersigni, surname has the letter T written twice over and before it by different hands, to clarify it, though the recorder wrote it clearly. Surname maybe Tessigni. Passenger 1061 has the same conflicting spelling of surname, but there is no indication of a relationship. Age second digit looks more like a P, is like no other number, maybe a backwards 9, but this transcriber will not guess what it is. Last address has ditto marks from 1053. Name of wife looks like Souta or Soreta. No similar Italian name found, closest to it is Sofia, but there are too many letters before where the f would be. It maybe a nick name. Destination city is written over, in another lighter hand. Both are hard to read. First darker name looks like Maugncobay, Marqucobay, or Mangueofay, and the second one looks like Malden. Nothing similar found for any of these.1058 Gis??ondi, surname letters are disconnected, third letter may be an s? Surname looks like Gismondi but maybe Giamondi. Last address has ditto marks from 1053. Destination letters are also disconnected. At first it looks like two words Steu ?eurille, the only similar one found is Steubenville.1059 Mattacepione, surname was written over by another hand to clarify it, but writing by recorder is clearer. Writing by recorder looks like Mattacepione. Can not read what was written over it. Last address has ditto marks from 1053. Relationship of relative is written as parents rather than father.1060 De Cindi?, before line number, 8, is written SI and ADMITTED is stamped upside down. This meaans that the passenger was held for a Board of Special Inquiry hearing, and perhaps slated to be deported. The word ADMITTED is stamped before line number means passenger was temporarily detained, then admitted into port. Surname letters are disconnected and not clear. Surname, last letter looks more like a small 2 than a letter. Last address has ditto marks from 1053.1061 Tessigni, surname has the letter T written before it by different hands, to clarify it, though the recorder wrote it clearly. Surname maybe Tersigni. Passenger 1057 has the same conflicting spelling of surname, but there is no indication of a relationship. Last address has ditto marks from 1053.1062 Ma???ione, surname was written with two horizontal lines over some letters noted by question marks. These lines look like they maybe accents over the letters rather than the letter t written twice. They do not look anything like how the recorder wrote his t. The letters in question are disconnected and the surname is not clear. It looks like Maniuione, but the Italian language does not use so many vowels together. This transcriber can not guess what the surname is. Last address has ditto marks from 1053, which was written over. Name of wife is also not clear, and looks like Danata, no similar name found. It maybe a nickname. Destination is not clear and written over, and both are difficult to read. Bolder writing looks like New Beno??t or Beuo??t, but underneath looks like it may be Steubenville.1063 Vendi??i, surname looks like it has something written over the last letters, which may be tt, like Venditti. Age second digit looks more like a P, is like no other number, may be a backwards 9, but transcriber will not guess what it may be. Last address has ditto marks from 1053. Given name of wife is not clear, letters are close together and illegible. Nothing similar was found, transcriber will not guess what it may be. Destination has ditto marks from 10621064 ?????tt?l?, passenger is crossed out by two thick lines. This usually means that the passenger was not on this ship. Surname and given name are totally blocked and can not be made out. Th rest is readable either through the line or written above the line, like the nearest relative, written as parents Vittorio. Last address has ditto marks from 1053.1065 Bruni, age second digit looks more like a P, is like no other number, maybe a backwards 9, but this transcriber will not guess what it is. Name of wife is spelled Doreta by recorder, when actual spelling is Dorotea. City of destination is also not clear, letters are disconnected. First letter maybe a T as others by the recorder, last letter looks like a u, only one similar found is Tiffin, Ohio.1066 Ca??evale, surname letters are not clear, and looks like it was written over or has an accent over the second questionable letter. Surname looks like Cascavale, but maybe Casnevale or Camevale. Last address has ditto marks from 1053. Nearest relative is written as parents Donata, no name similar was found. All names of relatives on this page are the given ones, no surnames were written.1067 Ge????li, surname letters are not clear, and looks like it was written over, to clarify it, but did not. All ? letters look like how the recorder wrote his u, n, e and i. Transcriber will not guess what they are. Only the letters given are clear. Last address has ditto marks from 1053.1068 P?tsicea, surname letters are not clear, and looks like it was written over, to clarify it, but did not. By recorder it looks like Pctsicea, which is not an Italian spelling as no word in Italian begins Pc or Pct. The surname maybe Petsicea or Petsicca. The second writing is by a different hand and looks like Peticea. Age second digit looks like and e, but age maybe 20. Last address has ditto marks from 1053. Destination has ditto marks from 1067.1069 Te??ibile, surname is written over to clarify it, but did not. It is right over the one done by the recorder. The recorder is more clear, and looks like Terribile but maybe Teccibile. Last address has ditto marks from 1053.1070 Del Vecchio, Given name of mother is written Guiseppe by the recorder but the correct female spelling is Guiseppa.1071 Maizano, z of surname is written over as if to clarify it, but did not. Second digit of age is not very clear, it maybe a 2 or 3, as 22 or 23, though it looks more like a loosely written 3.1072 Po?retta, surname letter is not clear, maybe Porretta or Pocretta or Povrettta. Numbers are written in occupation column, 8 dash 52311. These numbers are a verification for naturalization purposes, usually done after 1926. The first number is a naturalization district number, the second set is either an application number or the Certificate of Arrival number. There are no numbers like a date, as there often is, to indicate the date the person applied.1073 D' Andrea, numbers are written in occupation column, 2 a dash, 863579 a dash, then like a date 5 dash, 8 dash, 41. These numbers are a verification for naturalization purposes, usually done after 1926. The first number is a naturalization district number, the second set is either an application number or the Certificate of Arrival number. The last set of numbers may be the date the person applied. Letters of last address for passenger and of father are written small and close together. The first words maybe S Nicola, the last looks like Pa Hiada, nothing similar was found. Destination was written over, to clarify it. The state was first written PA, with NJ over it, the city by the recorder and second writer were both clear.1074 Marcelli, nearest relative is written as parents, though letters of the name is not clear. It looks like Gesemiu or Gesemia. Closest similar found is Geremia. Final destination was written over to clarify, but it did not. The second writing is very light and is directly over the first, neither are clear. Me is clear, but the first and darker writing of the city looks like Holoched, where the lighter one seems to begin with an M or N, but can not be made out. Closest found in Me is Holeb, nothing found that begins with M or N.1075 Poss??a ?, passenger is crossed out by a thick double line. This usually means that the passenger was not on this ship. Surname is not clear under the thick line, and looks like it maybe two names, but maybe only one with tall letters at the end. The first letters are somewhat legible, and look like Possica or Passica, the rest looks like it may begin with A or ll or tt, but the end is not readable. Other data given above is either read through the line, or above it.1076 Mast?ianni, surname letters are not clear, after the tt it looks like one u after another, but it maybe Masticanni or Mastrianni. Numbers are written from occupation to race columns, 7 dash, 24435 a space, then what looks to be c?o. The ? looks to be another letter or a colon. Then like a date, 2 a diagonal dash, 28 a diagonal dash, 38. These numbers are a verification for naturalization purposes, usually done after 1926. The first number is a naturalization district number, the second set is either an application number or the Certificate of Arrival number. The last set of numbers maybe the date the person applied. Final Last address for passenger and relative has ditto marks from 1075, who was crossed out. Destination is not clear, State maybe La or Pa and city looks like Finleyville. Found Finleyville in Pa.1077 Iafrato, surname was written directly over one by recorder, to clarify it but it did not. First writing is clear, second is lighter and looks to be I?f??te. Surname maybe Iafrate, Ifiate, or Iafiato. Writing by recorder is a fancy script. Last address for passenger and relative has ditto marks from 1075, who was crossed out. Name of wife, letters are close together, not clear and hard to make out. It looks like Resttuta or Restitula. Only similar name found is Rosetta, but the manuscript clearly begins with Res and ends in ula. This maybe a regional dialect or nickname. Final destination state was written over to clarify these letters that are close together.1078 Margnone, nearest relative is written as parents Luigi.1079 Di Cresce, last Residence looks like Broeco, but maybe Brocco. Nearest relative is written as parents, but name is not clear, maybe Arceusio or Anscenzo. Their residence looks more like Aracco or Pacco. Final destination was written over, but second one is very light and most is illegible, except for last letters of ora or ore. By recorder it looks like Beimood or Becnoad. Nearest found for W. V. was Bmis or most likely Benwood. Letters are spralled out1080 Di Cresce, surname is not as clear as the one above. Age first digit is not clear, maybe 23 or 33. A bracket between given name and age and last residence and nearest relative columns connects 1080 and 1081. The word wife is written in the surname column for 1081. In last address column is written USA, though last letter looks more like a T or F, and city looks liek Wenwood or Denwood, but Final destination has ditto marks from 1079. Nearest relative is written as parents on line for 1080. On the line for 1081 is written a name, but it is not clear. It looks like Cristina. Their city looks like Bracco. At the end of the line is stamped NON IMM for Non Immigrant.1081 Di Cresce, surname column has the word wife, rather than the surname. A bracket between given name and age and last residence and nearest relative columns connects 1080 and 1081. Last address, has do or ditto for USA from 1080, and a squiggle to indicate nearest relative as ditto also from 1080. Final Destination also has a squiggle for ditto from 1080. At the end of the line, it looks like there maybe a very faint stamp of NON IMM for Non Immigrant.1082 Mastromarico, surname is not clear and maybe Mastomarico. Nearest relative is written as father in Law, with no surname given, meaning his surname can not be the same as this passenger. It is listed as such to aid the researcher. Final destination is very lightly written, no such city is found in atlas for NY or NJ. Only similar one found for either state is Kingston, but nothing was found under East Kingston. Writing of NJ and NY are quite similar script by this recorder.

If you find an ancestor on a ship on ISTG and would like to link to your email address or home page, please submit a short paragraph about the passenger, where settled, children, etc., with the name of the ship and date of arrival, and send to the transcriber at the bottom of the manifest or to the ISTG Production Coordinator.
