Transcriber's Notes:
An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of the
manifest or something in the Transcriber Notes to which the reader should refer.
A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that can not be transcribed
definitely.
A caret (^) indicates that the following letter in a word or name is superscripted.
The transcriber numbers the passengers consecutively even though they are not
numbered in the original manifest.
The recorder of the manifest abbreviates most given names by writing only the first
few letters of the name. Other times he abbreviates given names by writing the first
few letters of the name, then skipping letters and then writing the final letter,
e.g., Joha, Margt, Wilhe, Wm, etc..
The recorder did not use ditto marks to indicate "same as above". Many surname, sex
and occupation entries are left blank and the reader is confronted with the problem
of interpreting the recorder's intended meaning. The transcribers use the surname
of the passenger above for cases of children whose surname is left blank, and use
the sex last entered for a passenger above, and correlate this interpretation with
whether the passenger has a masculine or feminine given name. Occupations are only
given in the transcription if the recorder entered them. Since it was common for
recorders not to make an entry in the occupation column for female passengers or for
children, a possible though not a certain interpretation of the intended occupation
where left blank is that of the occupation of the last adult male entered above.
The recorder of the manifest often abbreviates a passenger's Occupation, such as
"Merch" for Merchant, "Labr" for Laborer, "Servt" for Servant or "Mech" for Mechanic.
1-8 Surname is recorded as "Stine", but might actually be spelled "Stein".
21 Surname is recorded as "Emmet", but might possibly be "Emmett".
22 Surname appears to be written as "Lauce", but might possibly be "Lauer".
27 First letter of surname has been overwritten and cannot be deciphered with
certainty, but name is possibly "Seyd" or "Reyd".
40 Surname appears to be written as "v. Blonay", but might possibly be "v. Bloray".
49 Surname appears to be written as "Lion", but might possibly be "Leon".
57 Surname is either "Lutje" or "Lutze".
60 Surname is either "Chant" or "Chaut".
62 Surname is possibly "Radney" or "Rodney".
91 Surname is either "Hapner" or "Hopner".
94 Surname is recorded as "Freidmann", but might actually be "Friedmann".

certainty, but name is possibly "Schmoh" or "Schnich".
117 Surname is possibly "Pfeil" or "Pful".
124 First digit of passenger's Age is unclear, but Age is either 32 or 52.
129 Surname appears to be either "Daeklin" or "Dacklin".
