Steamer Mercedita
I, Geo H Smith, Master of the Str Mercedita, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect List of all the Passengers taken on board the said Str Mercedita at Havana, from which Port the said Vessel has now arrived; and that on said List is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said Passengers who have died on said Voyage, and the names and ages of those who died. List or Manifest of ALL THE PASSENGERS taken on board the Str Mercedita whereof Smith is Master, from Havana, burthen 857 tons.
Columns represent: surname and given name, age, sex, occupation, the country to which they severally belong, the country of which they intend to become inhabitants and part of the vessel occupied during the voyage. Since no one died during the voyage, this column is omitted in this transcription.

States Cabin Transcriber's Notes: A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that can not be transcribed definitely. An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of the manifest or something in the Transcriber Notes to which the reader should refer. 1 Surname is too faint to decipher with certainty, but appears to begin with "P" followed by a nearly invisible letter, possibly "i" or no letter at all, followed by "ata". Surname is possibly "Pata" or "Piata". 2 Surname is too faint to decipher with certainty, but appears to begin with "P" or "R" followed by a letter which is possibly but not certainly "o" followed by "cre" or "che". Surname is possibly "Pocre", "Poche, "Rocre" or "Roche".
