I Henry Dem?n?* do solemnly, sincerely and truly Swear that the following List or Manifest of Passengers subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New-York, contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Barque Four Sons whereof I am Master, from St Thomas So help me God. The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read, due to the quality of the original document. The use of a caret ^ indicates the following letter has been superscripted, indicating possible abbreviation. The signature attesting to the sworn statement is indecipherable; it is followed by DC which may indicate the Deputy Collector of Customs Passengers were numbered by the transcriber for ease of reference. Captain: the family name is probably Deming, but may be Demany; the first instance of the captainšs family name is either torn or inkspotted 1 The family name is either Brown or Braun 2 Family name may be von Bietten, von Bietton, Bietton, or Bietten 3 Second name may be Barton or Baiten; family name may be von Bietten, von Bietton, Bietton, or Bietten
