Transcriber's Notes:
A * indicates an error on the part of the original record or is used to call your attention
to additional information in the Transcriber or Passenger notes.
A ? indicates letters or words that cannot be read due to the quality of the original
document, and is clarified in the Transcriber or Passenger Notes.
A ^ is used to note the following letter is raised (superscript).
The cover sheet says Cha^s, however the manifest statement says Chs.
1 Surname is Lyons or Lyens. Occupation begins with a looped mark that looks like the
curved part of a B that is turned on its side so the loop is downward, and it is at
the high part of the word. Then there is a break, and a downward stroke, followed
by a u and then an upward stroke like an 'l', followed by another upward stroke with
an ending to the right about half way down. Taken together it looks like a looped mark
followed by lulh.
