Transcriber's Notes:
The use of an * indicates an error on the part of the original recorder not the
transcriber or is used to call your attention to additional information in the
Transcriber's Notes below.
The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read, due to quality
of original document.
The use of a ^ indicates letters are omitted and the following letter is
superscripted.
Countries of origin for most passengers was Germany, unless otherwise noted.
Country of destination for all passengers was United States, this column was omitted.
These passengers were numbered on the original film, not by the transcriber.
Since too many of these German names have "umlauts" (two dots over a vowel), I am not
listing each one individually but just giving a list of which names this applies to:
*369, 452, 472, 605, 647-648, 670, 692-696, 708-709, 712-716 the "o" in these
last names has an umlaut, could also be spelled as "oe".
*389, 409, 508, 603, 644-657 the "u" in in these last names has an umlaut, could
also be spelled as "ue".
*423, 458, 506, 701 the "a" in in these last names has an umlaut, could also be
spelled as "ae".
426 & 427 the same name is written for both in the original manifest
464 possible mistake in the original manifest, the first name is clearly "Anna" but
the sex is given as "male"
474 missing, numbering jumps from 473 to 475
501 used twice
578 possible mistake in the "occupation" column, written as "workman", even though
this is a female.
654 no age noted
