Ship August Edward
I, Matthias Probst do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following Report or Manifest subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the District of Philadelphia, contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Ship August Edward at the time of her sailing from the port of Bremen or which have been taken on board at any time since; that I am at present and have been during the voyage, master of said vessel. And I do likewise swear that all matters whatsoever in the said Report or Manifest, are to the best of my knowledge and belief, just and true. So help me God.

Columns represent: names, age, sex, occupation, the country to which they severally belong, the country in which they intend to become inhabitants. Occupations were not individually indicated but listed as labourers, mechanics, or farmers in general. All passengers belong to Germany and intend to become residents of the United States. These columns were therefor eliminated.

Historical Note: Passenger #5, J. A. Robbling (Roebling) was an engineer who emigrated from Thuringia, Germany in 1831 and became a famous bridge designer in the United States. In 1851-1855 he designed and supervised the construction of the Niagara Railway Bridge, a suspension bridge built across the Niagara River Gorge to Ontario, Canada. Other bridges were designed and built by Roebling to cross the Ohio and Allegheny Rivers. In 1869 he commenced design and construction of the Brooklyn Bridge in New York City but died before its completion. The construction was completed by his son, Washington A. Roebling, in 1883.
