SS Atlantic
Most passenger and crew names of the SS Atlantic, that sank off the coast of Nova Scotia on April 1, 1873, were taken from the New York Times, dated April 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 7th. The edition of April 2nd, 1873 did not have any passenger lists. There is an account though of people going to the office of the White Star line to find out the fate of friends or relatives. A few names are mentioned; these were added to the passenger list below. Names and their spelling vary in most editions of the newspaper, therefore a duplication of names might have occurred while transcribing the passengers. The scans were also not very clear at times. Some of the foreign names are also spelled phonetically.
Coloumns represent: Passenger number, name, country or city of origin, sources, additonal information in the line underneath the name.
