SS Athos
I, ?????????, Master of the SS Athos, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of the City of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board the said vessel at Kingston from which Port the said vessel has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the calling of each of said passengers, the location of the compartment or space occupied by each during the passage, the country of citizenship of each, the destination or location intended by each; and that the List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of passengers who have died on said voyage, and the dates, and cause of death, and the names and ages of those who died; also of the pieces of baggage of each; also a true statement, so far as it can be ascertained, with reference to the intention of each alien passenger, as to a projected sojourn in this country. So help me God. (signed) ????????. Sworn to this 25th June 1884, before me. (signed) ????????.
List or Manifest of ALL THE PASSENGERS taken on board SS Athos whereof (-- blank --) is Master, from Kingston, burthen 1214 tons.
Columns represent: given name and surname, age, sex, calling, the country of which they are citizens, intended destination or location, number of pieces of baggage and whether a transient, in transit or intending a protracted sojourn. Since every passenger was berthed in Cabins and only one passenger died during the voyage, these two columns were omitted in this transcription.

Transcriber's Notes:
An asterisk (*) indicates either difficulty in deciphering the handwriting of the
manifest or something in the Transcriber Notes to which the reader should refer.
A question mark (?) indicates a letter or a number that can not be transcribed
definitely.
The recorder of the manifest wrote a brace to include passengers traveling together
and entered a single number for their total number of pieces of baggage. The
transcribers have placed the number of pieces of baggage along side the first person
in the group.
2 Middle initial and first letter of surname might be "L" for surname "Lindo".
3 Destination was entered as "Ontario, Canada".
4 Surname is possibily "Vincent" or "Vinernt".
6 First letters of surname are clearly "Dup" followed by three or four letters
which are faint and poorly written, followed by the last letter "y". Surname
is possibly but not certainly "Duperly".
7 Destination was entered as "Ontario, Canada". Entry in the column for number of
pieces of baggage appears to be "Nil".
8 Surname is possibly "Coyle", "Cogle" or "Eagle".
9 Surname appears to be either "Shanick" or "Shaneck".
14-17 Surname is either "Milan", "Melan", "Mellan or "Millan".
16 The manifest has suffered damage in the area of passenger's Age and it is not
visible.
18 Surname is possibly either "Bum", "Burn" or "Burns".
20 Surname maybe Deluy or Debey.
21 Surname is possibly "Gerdos", "Gerdo", "Gerdes" or "Gordon".
25 Destination was entered as "Ontario, Canada".
26 Surname is possibly "Manneso", "Manneco" or "Manners". Destination was
entered as "Ontario, Canada".
31 There is a recorded notation that this passenger died June 20, 1884 due to
Bright's Disease of the kidney.
