Transcriber's Notes:
* An asterisk indicates that a footnote provides additional information.
? A question mark indicates a letter or number which could not be positively
identified due to the condition of the manifest or handwriting of the
original recorder.
* The captain's name appears 3 times, all are illegible but appear to be
something like H.H. Pinhham (the last 3 letters are the clearest).
* Although the second port of departure is unclear, it does start with "Ha"
it is believed to be Havre, France. Another voyage of this vessel in
1868 had departed from London, England and Havre, France. Also the
fact that there are French passengers onboard go along with the possibility
that this port is Havre, France.
All steerage passengers had prepaid tickets, according to a general note on
the manifest. Except one.
The first steerage passenger had destination of
New York; that column was blank for the remaining passengers, so it was
assumed that they were going there also.
Several female passengers were listed with an infant, who was not named.
See #13,82,112
In the Amount paid column for a family, the family was bracketed and the
total amount for that family was listed.
If age was given as a fraction, as in 5 1/2, it was converted to 5y6m.
1 In column paid there is an L with a line across it, the symbol for English pounds
4 Could be Boone or Borne.
16 and 28 Both look like Fleming; however the slurred ending could make it Flemiry.
17 and 18 were bracketed together in the Paid column.
25 Occupation Hospital store keeper. Destination Cleveland and New York.
29 and 30 Bracketed together under Amount Paid the manifest said Prepaid Ticket 20?? on two lines.
47 The last letter of the first name was blurred.
52 Could be Barner, Rarner or Warner. First letter was squeezed into small space.
57,59 Age was listed as Under 1.
60 After the name Thomas Marlow appears (Mrs.) but sex is M and occupation Machinist.
68, 79, 86, 94, 99, 108-110 Age was listed as Under 1
94 First name unclear. Could be Reve or Ren.
111 Thomas Cunningham was the only steerage passenger who had a number in the paid column.
He also had a note "transferred from Bellopa" Spelling uncertain.
