DISTRICT OF NEW YORK - PORT OF NEW YORK
I, F. Henderson, master of the Am SS Colon do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of Customs of the Collection District of the City of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board the said vessel at Aspinwall U.S.C. from which port said vessel has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, country of citizenship, native country, location of compartment or space occupied, intended destination or location, number of pieces of baggage, and date and cause of death of passengers, as required by the Passenger Act of 1882; also a true statement, so far as it can be ascertained, with reference to the intention of each alien passenger as to a protracted sojourn in this country.

List or Manifest of all the Passengers taken on board the Am S.S. "Colon" whereof F. Henderson is Master, from Aspinwall U.S.C., burthen 1843 50/100 tons.

Transcriber's Notes:     

The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read, due to the quality 
of original document or handwriting.  There are notes below to indicate possibilities 
for the unknown letters.  

An * is used to call your attention to additional information  in the Transcriber's 
Notes below.

The original manifest had a column for "Date and cause of death", but there were no 
deaths recorded on the manifest, so that column has been eliminated.

The columns for "Native Country" and "Location of compartment or space occupied" were 
not used until passenger 35.  Passengers 35 through 87 occupied the forward cabin and 
the column for "Location of compartment or space occupied" has been eliminated.

Passenger Notes:

 1,2,3 & 4   - are bracketed together.
 25 & 26     - are bracketed together.
 28, 29 & 30 - are bracketed together.
 42 & 43     - are bracketed together.
 44 & 45     - are bracketed together.
 48, 49 & 50 - are bracketed together.
 51 & 52     - are bracketed together, the name looks like Gwrin but could be Giurin
               or Guirin.
 77          - could be Dengil or Dengel.
