DISTRICT OF NEW YORK - PORT OF NEW YORK
I, Ch. Delort, Master of the SS Amerique, do solemnly, sincerely and truly (information not entered)that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection Districtof New York, is a full and perfect list of all of the passengers taken on board of the said S.S. (information not entered) at (information not entered) from which port said S.S. (information not entered)has now arrived; and that on said (information not entered)designated the age, the sex,and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died (unreadable) voyage, and the names and ages of those who died.

Columns represent: Passenger number; Passenger names-given as first name then surname; Ages-1 column for yrs, the next column for months (Since there are no passengers with information for months this column is not included); Sex; Occupation; Country from which they came; Country to which they intend to become residents; Died on the voyage (Since there are no passengers with information in this column it is not included); Part of the ship occupied during the passage.

15 to 18 Surnames maybe Mas or Was. 
42 This line is at the bottom of the page and much of the information was cut off.
51 Baptiste was assumed to be the surname. Given name maybe Souque or Sougne or Songue.
52 Baptiste was assumed to be the surname. Given name maybe Besie or Besse.
54 Occupation is uncertain due to overwritten letters; maybe Detulician or Electrician, 
   even thouigh this was in 1878 before electricity was available. Surname may be either 
   Reussi or Russi.
55 Occupation is uncertain due to overwritten letters; maybe Detulician or Electrician, 
   even though this was in 1878 before electricity was available.
61 Even though the given name is masculine the sex is questionable as the "m" is 
   overwritten with "f" or vice versa.
