Transcriber's Family Notes: Passengers #730-741 PIRANIAN Family
Contributor Anna Piranian family - PiranianPhoto of some of the passengers onboard the SS Rotterdam.
My family members in the photo are - starting from the right side of the photo, the front row, the third individual in is my grandfather, Mardiros Sarkis Piranian (listed as "Mr. M. Piranian" in the manifest). To his right stands my aunt, Haigenoush ("Helen") (listed as "Miss H. Piranian" in the manifest). Standing directly behind my grandfather is my uncle Samuel (listed as "Mr. S. Piranian" in the manifest). I don't see any other members of the family in this photo, nor can I help you with who anyone else might be. But .... someone who researches your website might very well recognize someone. I hope it helps someone else in their search. Miss Z. Piranian = Lily Piranian, nicknamed "Zany" Mast. E. Piranian = Emanuel Piranian Mast. D. Piranian = My uncle William's name was missing from the manifest and he WAS onboard. He is the only family member not listed, and this is the only entry not correctly linked to anyone.) Mast. E. Piranian = Edward Piranian Mast. L. Piranian = Levon Piranian Mast. A. Piranian = Alfred Piranian [my father] Mast. B. Piranian = Benjamin Sarkis Piranian Mr. M. Piranian = Mardiros Sarkis Piranian Mrs. M. Piranian = Mariam (nee Hagopian) Piranian and Infant = the infant was Victoria Piranian Miss H. Piranian = Haigenoush Piranian, nicknamed "Helen" Mr. S. Piranian = Samuel Piranian All in all, the passengers were my grandfather, grandmother, and their 10 children (one of whom was my father). As an interesting aside, my grandfather made a handwritten notation in the front of the manifest that indicated the ship stopped in Hoboken, NJ on July 13th, 1920. I was not aware of that prior to stumbling on this second manifest. Anna Piranian
