LIST OR MANIFEST OF ALIEN IMMIGRANTS FOR THE COMMISSIONER OF IMMIGRATION.
Required by the regulations of the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States, under Act of Congress, approved March 3, 1893, to be delivered to the Commissioner of Immigration by the Commanding Officer of any vessel having such passengers on board upon arrival at a port in the United States.
S.S. Peru, sailing from Hong Kong, Aug 11th, 1894 arriving at Port of San Francisco, Sept 6, 1894.
Columns represent: Number, Name, Age, Sex, Married or Single, Occupation, Nationality, Last Residence, Final Destination in the US, Whether in Possession of Money-if less than $30, how much?, Whether ever before in the US, Whether going to join Relative or Friend

There is no captain's statement nor captain's name attached to this manifest.
The following columns had identical entries for all passengers and so were 
not included in the table:
 Able to Read & Write=yes 
 Seaport for Landing in the US=San Francisco  
 Whether having a ticket to final destination=yes (except 1) 
 By whom was passage paid?=self 
 Whether ever in Prison, Almshouse or supported by Charity=no
 Whether a Polygamist=no
 Whether under contract to labor in the US=no
 Condition of Health Mental and Physical=good
 Whether having any deformities=no 
Letters that are illegible or difficult to interpret are replaced by ?.

1 has no ticket to final destination.  He has been to New York 1893.  He is 
   going to join sister, Mrs. Bumback, Minneapolis.
2 has been to San Francisco 1894.
3 Occupation is Commisioner of Emigration to Mexico.  He has been to California 
   Michigan 1892.  Presumably this means California and Michigan.
4 has been 7 years at Mills College, Alameda Co ?al.  Mills College is in 
   California.
