CHRISTOPH MEYER was born 17 March 1854 to Christoph Meyer and Theresia
Ziegenfuss in what is Helmsdorf, Saxony (now Thuringia), Germany. He immigrated with
his sister Clara and her husband Anton Wand, settling in Grant County, Wisconsin.
His brother Jacob joined him in November 1893, followed a year later by their
70-year-old mother, Theresia Ziegenfuss Meyer, and Jacob's family. Christ married
Mary Patzner on 12 October 1885 and bought a farm in Mt. Hope Township in
Grant County, where he lived until a short time before his death on 2 March 1947.
He and Mary had 11 children: Anna (Henry Fuerstenberg), Mathilda, (Will Scott),
Charles, Theodore, Mary (Peter) Adams, Joe (Florence Zack), Elizabeth,
Art (Dorothy Adams), Gertrude, Leonard, and Frances. Nancy Scott
CLARA ELISABETH MEYER WAND was born 12 February 1861 in Helmsdorf.
She married FRIEDRICH ANTON WAND 1 February 1881 in Helmsdorf.
He was born 6 May 1851 in Helmsdorf, the son of Johannes Joachim Wand and
Clara Elisabeth Luster. Upon their arrival in this country, Clara and Anton
lived briefly in Grant County, Wisconsin, before settling on a farm near Breda,
Iowa. They later lived in Dawes County, Nebraska, eventually returning to
Breda. Clara and Anton had 6 children. Daughters Theresia, Anna, and Mary
all became nuns. The eldest son, Augustin, became a Jesuit priest. Joseph
died at age 20. The youngest son, Anton, married Alva Olerich and following
her death, married Helen Cecelia Delahoyde. Leah Taylor
