Transcriber's Notes:
An asterisk (*) indicates the original recorder made an omission or error, or is used by the
transcriber to call your attention to additional information in the transcriber's notes below.
A question mark (?) indicates a letter or number that could not be read due to condition of
original manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.
* In the occupation column for all female passengers there is no occupation; instead the
recorder listed the female's social status, family status or marital status.
* In the occupation column for all young male passengers (under age 16) the recorder listed
the boy's family status or social status.
* There was only one adult male, passenger #75 S.M. Thadberg with no occupation; the recorder
entered "husband" in the occupation column. Note there was no adult female with the same
surname on the voyage.
* Re. nationality abbreviations used by the recorder: "Gmy" likely means Germany; "Un.St."
likely means United States.
* Information has been transcribed as seen, regardless of the spelling or abbreviations used
on the manifest.
* There were no deaths on this passage, therefore that column has been eliminated.
* The transcriber has numbered all passengers consecutively 1 through 91, although the original
recorder used numbers 1 through 69 for the 'Betweendeck' passengers on pages 1 and 2 of the
manifest, and on page 3 of the manifest used numbers 1 through 22 for the 'Cabin' passengers.
2,3,4 surname could be Kranse.
5 surname could be Krisek, Kusek.
8 surname could be Steder.
13 surname could be Peterson.
23 surname could be Posay.
24 surname could be Bernhard.
30 surname could be Lansperz.
31 surname could be Kregol.
38 the given name has a period at the end of five letters, so appears to be an abbreviation.
The first letter looks like G, but is not similar to upper case G written by recorder for
other names on the manifest. 2nd through 5th letters look like "ottl" same as in the given
name of passenger 45 (Gottlieb), the only difference being appearance of upper case G;
thus abbreviation could be Gottl.
41,42 surname could be Kasischke.
45,46 surname could be Hauser.
46 given name could be Eline.
48 in occupation, letters 3 through 5 are not clear. All are above the line and small with no
loops; could be bierseller.
56 surname could be von Burnsen. Note that this girl is identified as "daughter" but no other
passengers had the same surname. The recorder inserted a bracket in the nationality column
linking this girl to passenger 55, so the recorder apparently thought Clara von Bumsen was
the daughter of Charles Schmidt.
59 in the ocupation the 2nd and 3rd letters are small and above the line with no loops; looks
most like "bunt" seller.
60 surname could be Lowisohn.
61 the nationality column for this passenger is blank.
62 last letter of surname has a loop below line and could be "z" instead of "y" so name could
be Kojowisz.
63 fifth letter of surname is obscured by loop from above row. Looks like "e" or "o" so name
could be Lanzewski or Lanzowski.
64 last letter of given name could be "a", thus Augusta. This passenger is female, which is
confirmed by the next passenger 65 who is described as 'her son.'
71 nationality column is blank for this passenger. Note that his daughter, passenger 72, is
from United States.
73 given name could be Anne; surname could be Maine.
81 surname could be Dink.
82 surname has four letters and looks like Wise but the third letter is not clear; it is
small and above the line, could be c, r or s.
85,86 surname could be Tennowsky.
89 surname could be Hirsch.
