I Thomas Fanning do solemnly, sincerely and truly Swear that the following List or Manifest of Passengers subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New-York, contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Ship La Fayette* whereof I am Master, from Liverpool So help me God. * Collector of Customs (in the sworn statement): Name is indecipherable. It
may begin with "MO" and end with the abbreviation "DC" which would stand for
"Deputy Collector"
* Shipıs name is "La Fayette" where Capt. Fanning wrote it; but the DC wrote
it as "Lafayette"
Passenger Notes:
8-11: According to "Emigrants & Exiles" by Keith Miller, "Mechanic" on a
shipıs list MAY mean "Boiler Makers, Painters, Machinists or Flax Spinners"
9: It is possible the surname may be Earnshawe
10: The age may be 11
11: Surname may be (Wy/Wyc/Wyr)(kroff/koff)
