Schooner Kimberly
I, Jacob W. Johnson do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following list or Manifest of Passenger subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New York, contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Schooner Kimberly where of I am Master, from Demarara ????? to the 21st May 1836 before me, Jai Cormphead Djr Jacob W Johnson
List or Manifest of all the Passengers taken on board the Sch Kimberly whereof Jacob W Johnson is Master from Demarara burthen 121 tons.
Columns represent the following: Names, Age, Sex, Occupation, The country to which they were inhabitants, The country in which they intend to become inhabitants, Died on voyage
1 William Austin 36 M
2 Anna Maria Austin 34 F
3 Edward W Austin 12 M
4 Henrett M Austin 7 F
5 Anna Maria Austin 5 F
6 Theodore Austin 10m M
7* Three Servants F died
8 ??nna Austin 9 F
Transcriber's Notes:
The column in which they are from and going to is not clear and unable to see
what it is. Also for the occupation.
Passenger Notes:
# 7 This lists one White, One Black and a line drawn through the one Black and
one White. The other is listed as female and then servant, so I take it
that the Black and the White died.
# 8 The first letter is half way below the line. Like a J, or Gor even a Z.
Correspondence 11/25/02 Austin family
This was Rev. William Austin and his family. They were traveling to
Canada because of his wife's poor health. Some small corrections:
1. The voyage originated from Demerara (you have "Demarara ?????" ) in
British Guiana.
2. Their child Emma Austin (you have "??nna Austin) was the one who died
on the voyage, not a servant.
