The voyage began in Hamburg on 20 June 1843 and finally received favorable winds and reached open sea on 26 June. After an ardourous voyage the ship anchored in New York harbor on 16 August 1843. Although no births or deaths were officially recorded in the Passenger List, a death and a birth did occur. These facts are known by the immigrant residents of Bergholz, New York: #125 - The husband of Louise Heins died 28 June. #117 - A baby girl was born to Christine Moll on 18 July. Correspondence regarding name of ship and captain I have long wondered about the origin of the ship's name "Kammonham Roy" (or whatever it really was). Tonight I learned the answer from Cimorelli's Website, data provided by Peg and John Faludi. Evidently the ship was named in memory of Raja Rammohan Roy 1772- 1833, variously spelled Rammohun Roy and Ram Mohan Roy), a reformer known as the Father of Modern India. The Google search engine found over 2000 links to his name. I had earlier learned that the ship's captain William Cutts was a resident of Pittston, Maine. He appears in several census lists, also in the Basford genealogy at http://www.basford.org/genealogy/jacob-basford/rr01/rr01_054.htm. Michael Schulz (ISTG thanks Michael for this information) Correspondence 02/12/03 passengers #15-17 Bartel Martin was the father of Wilhelm/William, Friedrich/Frederick, Charlotte, and Caroline, who came originally on the Ship Georgiana arriving 6 September 1839 and the name is spelled Barthold passengers #68-72. Mary Barthel Correspondence 05/09/03 passengers #25-30 Ziehm This ship carried Christian Ziehm & family. The father's name was Christian and mother's name was Olga. They were my great great great grandparents. They settled in North Tonawanda & Grand Island, NY. John Ziehm
