I, Edwin Ross, do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the following List or Manifest of Passengers subscribed with my name and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New York, contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Ship John W. Cater whereof I am Master, from Kingston Jamaica. So help me God. Signed: Edwin Ross

The use of an * indicates an omission or error made by the original recorder.
The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read due to quality
 of original document.
All place names listed are transcribed as written on the manifest.

* Passenger #1:  Name is transcribed as written.  Transcriber could not find any
                 explanation or meaning for the initials.
* Passenger #6:  No indication as to country or state for Johnnstown.
* Passenger #7:  "ofrov" transcribed as written.  One child, Wm Codrington, is
                 listed in the death column as having died of debility on 2 May 1836.
* Passenger #9:  First initial could be an I or a J.
* Passenger #13: Occupation could be written as masplot.  Transciber could not find
                 an explanation of this occupation.
* Passenger #15: Surname could be Laurens
* Passenger #16: Unknown letter in destination could be an I, J or T.
* Passenger #18: First name could be Edward.
