7 September 1857

DISTRICT OF NEW YORK - PORT OF NEW YORK
I, Ell?n??l?? G Wisw?ll Master of the Ship Harrisburg, do solemnly, sincerely and truly ?[the word "swear" that might be expected here is not] that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said Ship at Marseilles, from which port said Ship has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died.
Sworn to this 7 Sept. 1857 Ell?v::ly G. Wisw?ll[signature] So help me God, Before me JWhiteDY

Transcriber's Notes:
The use of an * indicates an omission or error made by the original recorder.

The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read, due to
quality of original document.

There were no deaths on this voyage; therefore the death column has been
eliminated.

* The fourth letter of the captain's first name as seen in the first signature
could be an i; or, the third letter may be a "b", followed by "n"; the letter
  after the second "i" could be l or t; the last letter extends below the line;
it is possible that there is a final r, or it may be just a flourish. Thus,
the name could be read in several ways, none of which are obvious first names:
Elliniiljr; Elbnilyr; Ellinityr; etc. However, the second signature looks
  more like Elbviely or Elliviely.

His surname could be either Wiswell or Wiswall.

* The spelling of Marseilles is rendered as Marisells.

Passenger Notes:
*1 The word in the column for "sex" is neither male nor female; it looks like
   Light or Lytt
