Personal Notes:

Passengers #153 to #159 are ancestors of the transcriber. #153 Wilhelm Grose
is the brother of the transcriber's great-grandfather. His name is
misspelled as Grosse in the list. He is accompanied by his wife, Henriette,
and five daughters. The Wilhelm Grose family settled in the Town of
Wheatfield, Niagara County, New York State. Wilhelm eventually retired in
the City of North Tonawanda, New York. The 1900 U.S. census lists the
   occupation of Wilhelm as "capitalist".

Correspondence 10/05/01 passengers #304-307 BROMAND
Passengers #304, #305, #306, and #307 were my relatives. Johann and
Auguste were my great-grandparents. They arrived in Peshtigo, Wisconsin
in June of 1870. They were living with Auguste's brother and his family.
Auguste's brother and his family perished in the Peshtigo Fire of
8 Oct 1871, but the Bromund's survived. They settled in an area called
Peshtigo harbor where John first worked in a sawmill and then later
owned a farm. Emilie and Auguste (the child) both died in diptheria
epidemics while still children. John and Auguste were suppose to have
had 16 children. Only 6 surivived to adulthood and many lived until
their 70's and 80's.
Johann (John) lived until 6 Jan 1923 and Auguste lived until
25 Sept. 1934. Both are buried in Marinette, Wisconsin.
Barbara Halbrook

Correspondence 07/13/2004 passengers #55-58 Kopp
Passengers #55 & 56 were my gr grandparents. The name of #56 is actually
Justina. This would be an easy error. Emilie is my grandmother and Ottilie
her sister. They came first to Chicago then settled in Marshall Co., KS,
where Christoph farmed the rest of his life. Christoph and Justina had 6
more children in the United States. I am presuming that #54 was a brother
of Christoph as he also went to Chicago, married, then came to Marshall Co.
where he farmed near Christoph for several years before returning to Chicago.
Emilie became known as Amelia and married Charles Schwarz. Ottilie married
Charles Krause and they also lived in Marshall Co. Victor Schwarz

Correspondence 03/01/2005 passengers #175-178 Rickershauser
Passengers #175 to #178 name was actually Rickershauser (German spelling
at the time usually Ruckershauser with umlauts over first u and a). This family
was from the same town as my ancestors (Ruhlkirchen) who arrived in 1872 and
also settled in Newark, NJ. They were cousins -- but research shows that
they were not first cousins.

Passengers #168 to #174 were probably also from Ruhlkirchen -- the names
are typical. Plus, passenger #176 maiden name was Hahn -- I think that
#171 is her mother. Joe Rickershauser
