Transcriber's notes:
* An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the original recorder, not
the transcriber, or is used to call your attention to additional information
in the transcriber's notes.
? Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the
condition of the manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.
* Based on the information given about the country to which they belong the
ship may have departed from either Bremen or Hamburg, Germany.
* The Captain's name was listed as Beenken. There was no sworn statement.
* Country to which they intend to become Inhabitants - This column is omitted.
Each page had "United States" entered on the first line on each page and the
remainder of the column was blank.
* Died - This column was omitted. The two deaths it contained are in the
footnotes.
* The formatter has listed passenger numbers consecutively for ease in
referring to the transcriber's notes. The transcriber listed passengers
from 1-37 for each of the eleven pages of the abstract.
* The original recorder used "do" and the ditto mark (") extensively
throughout the abstract. The formatter has changed these in each column to
represent the word, letter, or name listed directly above the do/ditto.
Passenger Notes:
# 1-# 3 - Surname was written as Nölting, with Noelting being an alternative
spelling.
# 17 - There may be another letter in this name, but it could be a scratch on
the film.
# 18 - The ch was written as superscript with a ditto mark below it.
# 28 - Age was written as 1 1/2.
# 36 - The capital "T" in Thomas was the key to this letter throughout the
list. At first I confused it with a capital "L", but once I found the
name "Louise" on lines 2 and 3 on page 4 it was very easy to distinguish
between these letters.
# 38 - Surname was written as Möhl, with Moehl being an alternative spelling.
# 42 - Surname was written as Kröger, with Kroeger being an alternative
spelling.
# 56 - There was no ditto in the first column. The passenger's given name
would indicate a female, but sex is listed as m (male).
# 64 - Given name did appear to agree with the sex indicated by a ditto.
# 97 - First and last names appear to be transposed.
# 98 - This little boy died on the voyage.
#113 - The passenger's given name appears to be female, but the sex is listed
as m (male).
#132-#134 - Given names did appear to agree with the sex indicated by a ditto.
#141 - The final "k" in the first name was written as a superscript with a
ditto mark below it.
#161 - This young lady died on the voyage.
#193-#194 - Given names did appear to agree with the sex indicated by a ditto.
