LIST OR MANIFEST OF ALIEN IMMIGRANTS FOR THE COMMISSIONER OF IMMIGRATION.
Required by the regulations of the Secretary of the Treasury of the United States, under Act of Congress, approved March 3, 1893, to be delivered to the Commissioner of Immigration by the Commanding Officer of any vessel having such passengers on board upon arrival at a port in the United States.
S.S. Alameda, sailing from Sydney November 25th, 1895 arriving at Port of San Francisco, Dec 19, 1895.
Columns represent: Number, Name, Age, Sex, Married or Single, Occupation, Nationality, Last Residence, Final Destination in the US, Whether having a ticket to final destination, By whom was passage paid?, Whether in Possession of Money-if less than $30, how much?, Whether ever before in the US, Whether going to join Relative or Friend

There is no captain's statement nor captain's name attached to this manifest.

The following columns had identical entries for all passengers and so were 
not included in the table:
 Able to Read & Write=yes
 Seaport for Landing in the US=San Francisco
 Whether ever in Prison, Almshouse or supported by Charity=no
 Whether a Polygamist=no
 Whether under contract to labor in the US=no (except 11&12)
 Condition of Health Mental and Physical=good
 Whether having any deformities=no

Letters that are illegible or difficult to interpret are replaced by ?.

Passenger Notes:
 1  has been to New York 1884/5.  He is going to join Father in SF.
 2  Marital status is widower.  Last Residence is Cauley Vale NSW.  He is 
    joining Nephew V Vevey Toronto.
 3  Occupation is marine Engineer.  He has been to New York 1885.
 4  is joing uncle in SF.
 5  After this name "Lay over at Auckland" is written.  He is joining Brother
    New York.
 6  Occupation is Prof Cook.
 8  is joining Father in Sacramento.
 9  Occupation is ?raing maker.
10  is joining Uncle in Oakland.
11-12 Under Contract to labor column says "Engagement at the Orpheus."
13  Last Residence is Milton Otago NZ.  Final Destination is Salt Lake Utah.
16  Final Destination is Los Angeles Cala.
18  Final Destination is Saratoga, Wyoming.
19  Final Destination is Los Angeles.
20  Last Residence is Ivercargill NZ.  Final Destination is Saratoga, Wyoming. 
    She is joining Brother James Deagan or Degan, Saratoga, Wyoming.
21-24 It says "Children of the above" across the line of these passengers.
25  has been to Seattle Was.  Final Destination is Seattle Washington.  He is
    joining James Jones Oak Harbor Whidby Island Wa.
26  is joining brother-in-law.
13-26 These names are all written surname first.  They have been reversed in 
    the transcription in the interest of uniformity.
