I, Charles A. Hurn do solemnly, sincerely, and truly know that the following List or Manifest of Passengers, subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New York, contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Ship Ajax whereof I am Master, from Liverpool sworn to the 30 Sept 1836 before me Jas Campbell ....

Last name unreadable Correspondence 02/06/02 Captain HIERN Charles Hurn (also Heern) listed as master of the Ajax which sailed from Liverpool to New York in 1836 was, in fact, Charles Alden HIERN, husband of Catherine nee Christian from the Isle of Man. They did not marry in the IoM. She was listed on the 1851 Census for the Island as being a widow. Any further information re this gentleman would be very warmly welcomed. Olga Hiern-Cooke
My ancestor is Patrick Ingoldsby; younger brother of my gggrandfather Francis Ingoldsby who came over Sept 23, 1835 on the Splendid.
