AFFIDAVIT OF THE MASTER OR COMMANDING OFFICER,
OR FIRST OR SECOND OFFICER.

I, Cap. Ettore Zar, master, of the "Presidente Wilson" from Trieste, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that I have caused the surgeon of said vessel sailing therewith, or the surgeon employed by the owners thereof, to make a physical and mental examination of each and all of the aliens named in the foregoing Lists or Manifest Sheets, thirty in number, and that from the report of said surgeon and from my own investigation, I believe that no one of said aliens is of any of the classes excluded from admission into the United States by section three of the Immigration Act, and that also, according to the best of my knowledge and belief, the information in said Lists or Manifests concerning each of said aliens named therein is correct and true in every respect.

ALL ALIENS arriving at a port of continental United States from a foreign port or a port of the insular possessions of the United States, and all aliens arriving at a port of said insular possessions from a foreign port, a port of continental United States, or a port of another insular possession, in whatsoever class they travel, MUST be fully listed and the master or commanding officer of each vessel carrying such passengers must upon arrival deliver lists thereof to the immigration officer. Transcriber's Notes: 

*  An asterisk (*) after the passenger number indicates that additional
   information is  available below in these TRANSCRIBER NOTES.
 
   The original recorder typed the List, but made some mistakes.  The
   original is copied  here, including his mistakes.

   The words and abbreviations used were those of the original recorder.

   The original recorder split the one word brown between the two section
   of the same columns for color of hair and color of eyes.

In most cases the coloumn for months has been left blank by the original recorder.

Some passengers seem to be rather tall, i.e. 7' or some children 6'. This is probably 
a typing mistake by the original recorder. Some were corrected by the custom's officer,
some were not. In cases of the corrected entry, this entry was transcribed.

169  The original recorder spelled his surmame Bala, but his brother Boola. Although
     the transcriber has lived and worked in the Canton area for 40 years, 
     he  heard of Cheny Street, but probably the original recorder meant Cherry.
179: The original recorder spelled the state Idago.


Reviewer's Notes:

Passengers were numbered from 1 - 30 on each page, passengers have been
numbered continuously for ease of transcribing and referencing.

HEAD TAX STATUS was blank for all passengers, therefore the coloumn was eliminated.

All passengers have numbers such as 4/1628 or 4/2626 written in the "able to read which
language" coloumn. These numbers indicate that a reading test was done. The first number,
4 in this case, is a language code, the next set of numbers is the number for a specific 
sentence.

Names were transcribed as written regardless of spelling.
