 The original document consisted of two pages, each numbered 1-30. Lister used 
 these numbers and at times partially filled a page. Transcriber numbered  
 consecutively.

 alien resided with the intention of remaining as long as one year shall be the
 last permanent residence regardless of length of actual residence therein"
A ? indicates letter or letters which could not be read because of the quality
 of the document. The parentheses is used to add comments of transcriber and to 
 clarify where necessary - they were not that of the lister himself.
On this section of the Manifest the Lister has used the column "Nearest Relative
 from Whence Came" to record information on Citizenship. Transcriber has listed
 this column for this section, where applicable, "Citizenship/Naturalization".
