DISTRICT OF NEW YORK - PORT OF NEW YORK
I, Edmund Champion do solemnly and truly swear that the following List or Manifest of Passengers, subscribed [by] my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New York, contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and tr[ue list] of all the Passengers received on board the Ship Victoria Whereof I am Master, from London So help me God. List or Manifest OF ALL THE PASSENGERS taken on board the Ship Victoria Edmund Champion is Master, from London burthen 86874/95 t[ons].
Columns represent: Names, Age (expressed in Years/Months), Sex, Occupation, Country to which they severally belong, Country to which they intend to become inhabitants.

Transcriber's Notes:
* The use of an * indicates an omission or error made by the original
  recorder.
* The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read, due to
  quality of original document.
* There were no deaths recorded on the voyage, hence this column is not being
  reported.
* The words or letters in brackets in the sworn statement were supplied by
  context as the right side of the manifest was cut off in photo copying the
  film.
* The passengers were numbered by the transcriber, not on the original film.
* Passenger #5 - age:  manifest was blotted, first number could be 2.
* Passenger #6 - occupation:  letters were blotted, second letter appeared
* short, third, tall.
* Passenger #15 - Name was indented under the name of Passenger #14.


Correspondence added February 28, 2007, Captain Edmund Champion
I think Edmound Champion is an ancestor of mine. One of his children 
was born in America. I seem to have lost track of him, can you help? 
I  would be gratefull if you can.  He was the Master of the 
Ship Victoria 24th March 1856.
