Transcriber's Notes:
Re: name of vessel - we have found 2 additional sources for this ship list, both giving
conflicting information. In "The United States of America. Passenger Arrivals,
1819-1820. Washington, D. C.: Gales and Seaton, 1821. page 93"
Custom House with the name of the Collector.: CHARLESTON, James R. Pringle,
Names of Passengers: same as above
ship or Vessel, with the name of the Master or Commander.: Ship Priace Madoc,
Shoate. (believed Ship Prince Madoc is what they meant)

Whilst researching the SCOT's (passenger Hogg's mother's maiden name) from
Bowden ROX SCO, a researcher. Les HORN, has found the same passengers
with the ship name being Ship Mars, departing Greenock on 16 March 1820.

? Denotes illegible character on original.
(1) The original Quarterly list had columns for date of arrival
and port of embarkation. This information has been incorporated into
 the title information.
The remaining ships have been transcribed individually.
The columns containing the Ship's name and Captain's name were
extremely dark and illegible on the left side of the list.
*None died on voyage, therefore the column is omitted.
?Collector's name: looks like 'ud'.

Correspondence 06/20/2003 passenger #1 Hogg
The SCOT's from Bowden ROX SCO.
Betty SCOTT (b 1729) married Robert HOG (b1725). They had 3 sons, Robert (b2/12/1755),
Alexander (b 26/12/1757) & Francis (b3/7/1762). Although Francis married Betty RUTHERFORD,
she was 9 years older than him and died age 62 (c 1815). Despite having 5 children Francis
eventually, at the ripe old age of 58, shipped on the MARS at Greenock on 16/3/1820. Given
the usual passage time Clyde to S Carolina of 30/32 days this makes the arrival date 14th
to 16th April. As yet I haven't been able to find Francis in the US. Les HORN
