Correspondence 2/25/02 passenger #144 Nebelsiek
I found a relative on one of your shiplists: Bark Tuisko arrived on
19 June 1862 from Bremen in New York. Passenger No. 144 is Otto Nebilsieck.
This is his story:
Otto Alexander Nebelsiek was born on 21 Nov. 1835 in Wildenborn near
Zeitz, Sachsen, Germany. His parents were Georg Karl Wilhelm Nebelsiek
and Sophie Friederike Christiane Beusch. Otto became a forester like his
father and several ancestors before. He emigrated in 1862 to the USA and
took part in the war and was seriously wounded by a shoot through the
lungs. This wound was the cause of his death on 7 Sept 1874 in Fishkil
near New York. As far as we know he did not marry or have any children -
but who knows?
If anybody recognizes his name I would be glad to hear about it.
