DISTRICT OF NEW YORK - PORT OF NEW YORK
I, W. Willigerod Master of the Ger. Stm. Trave do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of the City of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said steamer at Bremen-Southampton from which port said steamer has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the ages, the sex and the calling of each of said passengers, the location of the compartment or space occupied by each during the passage, the country of citizenship of each, and also the destination or location intended by each; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the dates and the names and ages of those who died; also of the pieces of baggage of each; also a true statement, so far as can be ascertained, with reference to the intention of each alien passenger as to a protracted sojourn in this country. Transcriber's Notes:     
The use of an * indicates an omission or error made by the original recorder.
The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read, due to the quality 
of original document.
Since there were no deaths, this column has been omitted.
All passengers except 3 were on a protracted sojourn, so that column was also omitted.
The who were Transient or in transit were #619, 620 and 660, as indicated.
No calling was listed for any female or child.
Sometimes the names were written first name followed by the last name,
some times the last name followed by the first, no commas were used.
Care should be taken not to confuse the number of the steerage with the number of pieces 
of luggage.
The letters J, I and T were very hard to distinguish between in capitals,
in lower case e and c, n and u
The name Istvan is Stevan in English
Passenger # 466 name could begin with an S
Passenger # 478 first name could be Herm. or Heinr?
Passenger # 480 Bertnhd is probably short for Bernhard
Passenger # 483 last name could begin with a T.
Passenger # 500 missing letters in last name were all small letters, cu or maybe w.
Passenger # 501 first part of name covered with ink blot, Tall 
                letter, maybe L and one small letter.
Passenger # 503 first name could begin with an S or T or?
Passenger # 536 first name could begin with an D
Passenger # 551 has a large ink blot on his name
