The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read, due to quality of the original document. * In the sentence which begins "List or Manifest of all the Passengers taken on board ... " only the last name of the captain is given. The column "Died on the voyage" was blank and has therefore been omitted. 4 Ed?d Hall could be Edwd Hall 5-6 For some reason, they deviated from the manner in which they recorded the ages for the other passengers. The ages for passengers 5 and 6 are listed as three vertical lines, a space, then another vertical line.
