Transcriber's Notes:
? indicates letters that could not be read due to the handwriting on the original.
* indicates a comments by the transcriber in the transcriber's notes.
Collector of Customs signature is J B, then there appears to be an O or possibly a
connecting loop before four M-like humps, then a squiggly letter than could be
an s, e, or r, followed by an l with a swoopy curl at the end.
Died on Voyage column was not used, and so is deleted from this list.
Names - Writer makes small 'v' and 'r' the same way. Notes below on possible
variations.
4- 6 Surname could be Lavis.
12-14 Occupation listed; appears to be one large hump and four medium humps
like an M twice, followed by er. The men listed below #12 are indicated as having
the same occupation, so possibly she was listed in error and it is the men's
occupation. Possibly Miner, but doesn't appear to be an i. Complication
is that writer makes r's so that some of the humps may actually be small r.
14 Name could be Eva, but unlikely as is male.
15 Misspelling of engineer is as in original.
17 7 is in months column, but when put with child #18 it doesn't make sense.
Perhaps one or both of these ages should have been in the years column, or perhaps
they were cousins?
18 5 is in months column, see comments child #17. Occupation given as Farmer,
unlikely; writer probably off one line in writing.
19 First name most likely George.
19-21 Surname is written Hamelton; possible correction to Hamilton.
22-23 Surnames possibly Erens or Erans.
25 Initial appears clearly as F, but has odd mark after it almost as if it is Ft.
26 l is superscript, probably Samuel.
