DISTRICT OF NEW YORK - PORT OF NEW YORK
I, E. Denisin Port do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the following List
or Manifest of Passengers, subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me
to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New York, contains, to
the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the
Passengers received on board the R Alsop whereof I am Master, from
Liverpool.

* The use of an * indicates an omission or error made by the original
recorder.
* The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read
due to quality of the original document.
* The column Sex was not filled in for any passenger.
* The original recorder listed occupations only occasionally. In
some cases, there are definite ditto marks (") for a specific
passenger - in these instances, the occupation was listed for that
passenger, as well. Where there were no dittoes, no occupation was
listed.
* The column Died on the Voyage was empty except as noted (see
Passengers 102, 107, 119).
Passenger 4 t in first name is superscripted.
Passenger 6 Last name Lally or Lolly.
Passenger 7 t in first name is superscripted.
Passenger 12 s in first name is superscripted.
Passenger 13 s in first name is superscripted.
Passenger 14 s in first name is superscripted.
Passenger 16 Last name appears to start with B, possibly M,
followed by one or two small letters (ri? ro?), then
by a tall letter, probably d.
Passenger 21 s in first name is superscripted.
Passenger 23 s in first name is superscripted.
Passenger 30 n in first name is superscripted.
Passenger 32 There is a smudge on the document, possibly covering
a superscripted n at the end of the first name.
Passenger 52 t in first name is superscripted.
Passenger 60 m in first name is superscripted.
Passenger 61 Last name is very faint - following the capital E,
there appear to be one small letter, then a letter
extending above the line, possibly another small
letter, then a letter extending below the line, then
possibly another small letter. However, any of the
"small letter"s may be parts of the extending letters.
Passenger 62 s in first name is superscripted.
Passenger 65 s in first name is superscripted. Last letter appears
to be w (Hordew), alternately n (Horden).
Passenger 69 t in first name is superscripted.
Passenger 70 There is a superscripted letter following Benj. The
last name is very faint, but is made up of several
small letters. There may be a tall letter at the end,
or the recorder may have extended the end of a short
letter. There are at least 4 letters.
Passenger 73 t in fist name is superscripted. Following passenger
73 there is a blank line, then an un-numbered
passenger: Patrick L????, age 12, with no other
legible information. There is a heavy line through
this writing - it is not clear whether this is a
defect in the film or an attempt to remove the record.
Another blank line follows. There are no other lines
left blank in the manifest.
Passenger 83 t in first name is superscripted.
Passenger 102 This passenger is at the top of a page. The word
"Died" appears in his row at the far right, but may
have been used as a column heading, as two passengers
on the page have their names repeated in the column
so used (passengers 107 and 119).
Passenger 105 I in first name is unclear, similar to J in Jane just
below.
Passenger 107 Passenger's name was repeated in far right column,
possibly indicating the passenger died on the
voyage (see passenger 102).
Passengers 108-112 Last name Yales or Gales.
Passenger 109 s in first name is superscripted.
Passenger 111 m in first name is superscripted.
Passenger 119 Passenger's name was repeated in far right column,
possibly indicating the passenger died on the
voyage (see passenger 102).
Passenger 121 Last name appears to be Marroell, alternately Marroele.
Passenger 124 Last name Maskey or Markey.
Passenger 131 Last name has three or four letters illegible. Last two
possibly ow. Occupation is probably Servant, but it is
smudged.
Passenger 143 n in first name is superscripted.
Passenger 145 s in first name is superscripted. Following Med, last name
has four to six letters, beginning with one that rises
above the line. It is not clear whether this is "li" or
perhaps aN h. After "co" is another letter (possibly two)
that rises above the center line. At the end is either
an s or an extended flourish on the last letter.
Passenger 147 d in first name is superscripted.
Passenger 155 t in first name is superscripted.
Passengers 169-172 Last name G, followed by one or two short letters then
"lsha" and one or two more short letters.
Passenger 178 Age has been written over, rendering it illegible.
Passenger 184 Age 28 or 38 or 58.
Passengers 187-188 Last name is very faint. Following capital letter (F, T
or L) is one short letter, a k, and two short letters,
possibly ending with an s.
Passenger 189 Age has been altered. 7 is clear and dark, but there may
or may not be a preceding number. Occupation, country of
origin and destination columns are all smudged - it
appears that entries have been wiped off.
Passengers 189-193 Last three letters of last name are one tall followed by
one or two short letters.
Passenger 202 Last number of age is unclear - 40, 42, 43, or 45.
Passengers 203-205 The original manifest has this family as Smels, or it appears
to be Smels. We know from descendants that it is Smelt.
Passengers 212-213 Last name Buller or Baller.
Passengers 215-216 Last name Cordian or Cordiaw.
