March 24, 1856

DISTRICT OF NEW YORK - PORT OF NEW YORK
I, Davis, master of Memphis do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said ship at Havre from which port of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died. So help me God. (signed) R. B. Davis. Sworn to this 24 Mch 1856 before me (signed) J. H?ls?? J?evee.
List or Manifest of all the Passengers taken on board the Memphis whereof Davis, is master, from Havre burthen 798 tons.
Columns represent: names, age, sex, occupation, the country in which they severally belong, the country in which they intend to become inhabitants, died on the voyage, part of the vessel occupied by each passenger during this voyage.

* Column entries appear to not match the headings. Final column appears to be 
  occupation.
* # 1, First letter may be a capital "y" or a lower case "f"    
* # 4, Last name may be Fenz
* # 7, First name is missing print with heavy ink following letters.
* #15, The "o" has a circumflex (triangle without a bottom) over it.
* #26, The first "e" in Baviere has an accent mark.
* First letter could be "N" or "V", second ? could be "r" or "s", last ? could 
  be "d" or "s".
