Correspondence 3/29/02 passengers #11 Sohl and #24 Eicke
The first of my ancestors to come to this country were Henry Eicke
and Elisabeth Sohl -- arriving in New Orleans on the Goethe. My
hunch is that they met on the ship and were married about six months
after arriving. Anyway, they have lots of descendants in Nebraska
where they ultimately settled in about 1856.
Henry and Elisabeth were married on July 5, 1855 and settled just
west of Omaha, Nebraska, not long after the Nebraska Territory was
opened to settlement. Most of their descendants still live in Nebraska.
I am familiar with most of the genealogists in the family and would
be happy to pass information along. I'd be particularly interested
in information about exactly where they were born in Holstein and
Hessen, respectively.
Harlan Rosacker, Washington, DC 20009-1883

Correspondence 06/15/2004 Passengers #21-23 Damm
My ancestors on the ship were William Damm, Norbert Damm, and
Maria Damm leaving Prussia and going to New Orleans. From New
Orleans they traveled to Indiana. Poseyville and Mt Vernon are
listed in history.

Other family members followed. Maria married John Lenard Zeller
in Posey County Indiana. Marian Zeller Brinkerhoff
