SS George W. Clyde
I, James Holmes, Master of the Steamship George W. Clyde do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the following List or Manifest so described by me and now delivered by me to the Collector of Customs of the Collection District of New York is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said Steamship at the below same Porto from which port said George W. Clyde has now arrived and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belong and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant and that said List or manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died. So help me God. James Holmes Sworn to this 12 January 1882, before me (signature cannot be read) DEPUTY COLLECTOR.

Passenger #3: ? represents two letters which can not be read. Possible
substitutes could be "v", "u", "o" or "a". Both letters are written above
the line.
Passenger 9, 10, 11: * next to the word Germany, the word Bavaria is written
at an angle to the column.
Passenger 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 16, 17, 18, 19: Occupation is unclear.
Possible readings are abbreviation for commercial or common laborer.
All the passengers stayed in a cabin so that column has been eliminated.
No passengers died on voyage so that column has been eliminated.
