Passengers Ahvenbeck should be spelled AHRENBECK Bernard - M 52 is my
great great grandfather Bernard- M 14 - changed his name to John Bernard
Ahrenback and is my great grandfather. He is buried in Waco, TX along with
most of his children. His daughter, Minnie, is my grandmother. I have
just confirmed this information from census records etc., over the
past two weeks after seeing the listing for this ship. Until then, I
had not known that the elder Bernhard Ahrenbeck had come to this country.
Thank you very much.

Passengers 146-153 are ancestors. Passenger No. 152,
Pauline Henniger, is my second great grandmother. She married
Charles Albert on Oct. 1, 1857, Austin County, Texas.
Nicholaus (Johan) Henniger was born about 1794 in Wilhelmsdorf, Saxony,
Germany. He married first Catherine Alneid. He married second Fredericka
Albert who was born about 1810. They emigrated to Texas around 1847.
They settled near Roeder's Mill (now Shelby) in Austin County, Texas,
about 1848. He was a farmer. Two of his sons stayed in Germany,
Frederick and Carl Henniger. Nicholaus died July 22, 1853 and
Fredericka died January 28, 1864.
Transcribers Note: The above correspondence
indicates the name is HENNIGER (the manifest is
clearly written as HENNINGER).
Correspondence 6/20/00 from descendant Ann Keng
Passengers 94-100. The correct spelling of the surname of these passengers
is KENG per information from a descendant (the manifest is clearly written
as KING).
Correspondence 11/04/00 for descendant Linda Roco Taylor
I found my German ancestors on a ship passenger list microfilm at Clayton
Library in Houston several years ago. I just came across that passenger
list on the ISTG site and wanted to make a correction. My ancestors
arrived in Galveston on board the Franziska in November of 1847. They
are on lines 59-65. The correct spelling of their surname is Rokohl.
It was later "Americanized" to Roco. They settled first in Grimes County
and then in Houston. All four sons served in the Confederate Army and
three returned to Houston when the war was over. The fourth was paroled
in North Carolina and still hasn't been located! Rudolph Rokohl was my
great-great-grandfather.
