I, Charles A. Ranlett do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest of Passengers, subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New York, contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Ship Forest King whereof I am Master, from Liverpool. ? represents a word or letter which cannot be read due to the quality of
the document. Portions of this list are very difficult to read.
* Many of the given names were abbreviated with the last letter raised and
underlined. I have transcribed those here in normal text (e.g.: Thos for
Thomas, Jno for John, Edwd for Edward, Margt for Margaret, Michl for
Michael, etc)
* The occupation column contained only ditto marks (") for most of the
passengers, including women, children, and infants. I have left those
blank here. The occupation has been transcribed only if the recorder wrote
an occupation or "Do" for ditto.
* The "country which they intend to inhabit" was United States for all
