I, Charles A. Ranlett, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the following List or Manifest of Passengers, subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New York, contains to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Ship Forest King whereof I am Master, from Liverpool. * These passengers were not numbered on the original manifest but added for
ease of identification.
* The orig. writer of this list used many abreviations especially for
given names ie, Jas, Michl, Jno, Brigt, Margt.
* The writer of this list used "Do" to mean same as above. He also
used ditto (") marks extensively. In the occupation column I
transcribed only those actually written out or when there was "Do".
Your ancestor may or may not have had the occupation of the person
directly above.
* The apostrophe after O as in O'Brion, and c after M as in McReeve was added
by me to make sorting for surname list easier.
Passenger Notes:
? 36-44 appears to be tape on orig. manifest prior to microfilming
causing very dark and mostly unreadable images.
? 36 last letter of given name is an "a". Next to last has long
stroke like the end of a d or l.
? 39 Last letter of given name is d - possibly David
? 40 Last letters are ch - possibly abrev. for Michael
? 41 Last letters are possibly tt - possibly Patt
? 42 Possibly should be McGuire
? 103 Hole on orig. possibly T??
* 111 Patt ? - the surname of Gibbon is assumed as no name or "Do"
was used as was writers usual mark to signify same as above.

* 154 No sex on manifest but probably male.
* 180 Sex listed as female but probably should be male.
? 193-195 Occupation listed as Selfact Skinner but this transcriber
has no idea what Selfact refers to.
Correspondence 11/29/01 passenger #191 Brennan
Dennis Brennan, the 22 yr. old carpenter, went to Simmonsville, Rhode
Island. Eventually, he wound up in South Dedham, Mass. He worked as
an iron moulder for many years. He became a U.S. citizen in 1868. He
died on November 18, 1915 at the age of 89. Phillip J. Brennan
