I, Franz Friedrichs, Master of the Bremen ship Christel do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the following List or Manifest subscribed by me and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the District of New York is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said ship Christel at Bremen from which port said ship has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant and that said list or manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage and the names and ages of those who died. List or Manifest of all the Passengers taken on board the Bremen Ship Christel, Franz Friedrichs is Master, from Bremen, burthen (no tonnage recorded).
Columns represent: names, ages, gender, country of origin--other columns have been omitted in this transcription because the information was the same for all passengers, i.e. the intended country of habitation was the U.S. for all. Passengers 1-4 travelled in the first cabin; 5-90 in the second cabin (or identified as poop deck); 91-432 were between decks, otherwise known as steerage.

Transcriber's notes:
The recorder of this list uses the word Osterick for a country, presumably
meaning, Österreich, i.e. Austria. He also draws in a vertical bracket
to indicate the nationality of groups of people rather than entering the
country on each line; therefore, there may be misreadings of the nationality
for some names.

#1 Occupation probably "grocer"
#3 Surname has an umlaut over the "u" and the "o"
#13 Given name blurred because of a fold or tear in original
manuscript. Surname has an umlaut over the "o"
#14 Name and age blurred because of fold or tear in original--seems to
be the same surname as #13 because of ditto marks in the column for nationality.
Age may be 35.
#13-18 Surnames have an umlaut over the "o"
#24 Occupation possibly steel maker
#28-31 Surname has an umlaut over the "u"
#30 Passenger died "in the passage" that is, on the voyage
#32 Surname has an umlaut over the "u"
#37-38 Surname could be Setter

#54 Occupation proabably means trimmer, as in cabinetry or carpentry

#82 The given name and the surname seem to be transposed here:
I believe the surname is Heinemann and the given name, Phavis--
difficult to determine because the first letter is overwritten
from the name above.
#83 Both given and surname have been overwritten--difficult to
decipher. The surname seems to end in ... dluck or ...llack
and again the surname and given name seem to have been transposed.
