7 May 1832

DISTRICT OF PHILADELPHIA - PORT OF PHILADELPHIA
I, Samuel Yorke, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear that the Report or Manifest subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the District of Philadelphia, contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the passengers which were on board the Ship Cha's Wharton at the time of her sailing from the port of Liverpool or which have been taken on board at any time since; that I am at present and have been during the voyage master of said vessel. And I do likewise swear that all matters whatsoever in the said Report or Manifest, are to the best of my knowledge and belief, just and true.

Transcriber's Notes:

Columns (5) Last place of Settlement and (6) ALLEGIANCE  had check marks in
all  except for passenger #16 (Thom^s Woods).   It might indicate "ditto"
for Place of Birth; however, in the vertical columns, Do was written to
indicate ditto.  These columns have been omitted.
Passengers were not numbered on this list.   The Transcriber assigned
numbers in the order in which they were listed.

? 16 Under ALLEGIANCE COLUMN, it looks like Hemsloce (?)
? 26-33 Surname might be SKEELS
? 40 Surname looks like MASCAL (?)
* Last settlement:   Not legible.
? 46 Surname could possibly be DICHS
? 48-49 Surname could be MAISTER
? 63-64 Surname could possibly be McGINN

Correspondence 1/3/01 Passenger #33
"My g-g-grandfather is Edward Sheels b England 1831/32.   He married
Margaret Johnson April 1856 in Shelby County, TN (Memphis area).   They were
in Tipton Co., TN (it borders Shelby Co. on the North) in 1860.    They had
a daughter, Sarah J., born Dec 1856;   this was the only child they ever
had.   Sarah is my g-grandmother.
  
Sarah married Andrew J. Curtis 1870.   At this time, the name changed to
SCALES.  Edward died between June 1870 and March 1872.   Margaret SCALES
remarried March 1872."  Sue Hill Leach
