I, C Meyer, Master of the Steamship Bremen, do solemnly, sincerely, and truely swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me and now delivered by me to the collector of the customs of the collection district of New York, is a full and perfect List of all the passengers taken on board the said Steamship at Bremen from which port the said steamer has now arrived: and that on said list is truely designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs and also the country it is intended by each to become an inhabitant: and that said list or manifest truely sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died. The passenger list numbering starts over from number one three times. The first
16 passengers, numbered 1 through 16 on the manifest, were located in the upper cabin,
called the saloon on the manifest, listed as Up, or upper deck in this transcription.
The next 47 passengers, numbered 1 through 47 on the second page of the manifest, were
located in the next cabin level of the ship. Passengers 64 through 103 are on page 3
of the manifest and are numbered from 48 through 87.
Page 4 of the manifest is the first page of passengers travelling in steerage. The
manifest begins numbering at 1, ending with 233. Passenger #104 is listed as number
1 of this group.
