Charles Frederick Hagemeyer was born November 11, 1830 in Vegesack, Germany and died March 10, 1877 in New York City. Charlotte Louise Hagemeyer was born October 1836 in Vegesack, Germany, the daughter of Henry Lubke and Katie Becker. She died April 26, 1908 in New York City. Charles and Louise were married July 9, 1854 in New York City. William was their youngest child at the time of this voyage. The other children were Charles F. born May 26, 1855, Henry born in 1857 and Annie and Elise, twins, born July 27, 1859. Annie was the transcriber's great grandmother who married Charles F. Wientge February 24, 1881 in New York City. After Charles and Louise returned from Germany they had three more children. They were August born June 23, 1864, Katherine Henriette born February 20, 1868 and Frida born about 1878. Correspondence 06/10/01 Passengers 374-376 MAY Passenger #374, Nicolaus MAY. I believe this is my great grandfather. He settled in Calaveras Co. California. He became a quartz miner. His wife was Philippene HICKMAN. Nicolaus was born in Bavaria in 1838 and evidently lived in Prussia, before he came to the United States He had 7 children born in California stating in 1869. I do not know what town, state or village Nicolaus was born in or where exactly he lived in Prussia. Passengers # 375 Catherine was probably Nicolaus May's sister I found that she married Frederick PIPER in Calaveras Co, California in 1864. #376 Marie may have been another sister but haven't found her yet.
