*The name of the town of origin of the departure, Doleyshire,
Marionethshire, was unable to be located by the transcriber. I question
whether or not this is Denbigh/Dinbych, (Welch)/Denbigshire which was a
former county next to Merionethshire or if it's Dolgelly, a town just
below Merionth and it appears on the map to be in Merionethshire.


Correspondence September 25, 2000 regarding departure or origin

Ship departed from Great Britain or England North Wales. They were from DOLESOROREN, Wales and were Quakers. This information comes from one of our old family bibles of Dr. Griffith Owen and was recorded 1648-1865. Dr. Griffith Owen's father was Robert Owen and is the beginning of my family tree. Thank you so much for this information, as in my records, they call the ship "Vane".

He married Elizabeth Brinton b. 09 Oct 1665 in Oflower Gornall, Sedegley, Worchester, England and d. after 1708. A daughter Ann Harry married Thomas Speakman. A son Joshua Speakman married Ann Miller. A son Stephen married Elizabeth Burkholder. Son Thomas married Mary Painter. Son Thomas Stephen married Ann Mathilda Duncan. Daughter Emma Evelyn married Edward Fisher Stephens. Son William Paul Stephens married Beulah M. Miller. Virginia A. Stephens Correspondence January 2, 2002 passengers #21-25 EDWARDS Margaret Edwards, wife of Alexander, died shortly after reaching America. I can only assume she was joining him in America, as I do not know the date of his departure from Wales. He settled in Montgomery Township, Pennsylvania. At a later date (unknown at this time) he remarried to Catherine Griffith Morris. Alexander died in Montgomery Township in 1712. Still researching his children. St. Mary’s, Shrewsbury. 1664 25 July Richard Turner buried in the garden of John Millington in the presence of many people. Hill for 7 years in Weavers & Clothiers Co. 1641/2 10 Jany. Adm. freeman of Weavers & Clothiers Co. 1644 Steward of Weavers & Clothiers Co. 1644 Took his brother Andrew Turner as an apprentice. 1645 Richard Turner, clothier, s. of Ranulph Turner of Shrewsbury, leather-dresser, adm. burgess. 1646 Warden of Weavers & Clothiers Co. 1647 Sitter of Weavers & Clothiers Co. 1663/4 Took Thomas Overton [Quaker] as his apprentice. 1668 Son Randal apprenticed to John Wilcox, tailor. [entry crossed out] RELIGIOUS & POLITICAL ACTIVITIES: 1661 Oct. & 1663 He & his wife presented to Shrewsbury Borough Quarter Sesssions for not coming to church. 1663 Sept. Appears in a calendar of prisoners at Shrewsbury Borough Quarter Sessions. 1663/4 22 Feby. At a Quaker meeting – mayor’s sergeants arrived & took them before the mayor. Committed for 3 days to sergeant’s house. Then appeared before Justices of the Peace & tendered the oath of allegiance, which they refused to swear, so imprisoned till they put in sufficient bail to appear at the next Quarter Sessions. The eight offenders incl. Rich. Turner. [Shropshire Archives 4430/MM/1/4, 7] 1665 Mary Turneour, widow, of Holy Cross parish, Shrewsbury, presented to Lichfield Consistory Court for being a Quaker. [Lichfield Record Office, B/V/1/72] 1667 Mary Turner witnessed a Quaker marriage in Shrewsbury. [Shropshire Parish Registers Society, Nonconformist registers, Society of Friends, Shrewsbury] 1667 April Mary Turner, widow, of Abbey Foregate presented to Shrewsbury Borough Quarter Sessions for not coming to church. 1670 19 June [his da.?] Mary Turner apprehended at a Quaker conventicle held in Shoplatch, & tried before Shrewsbury Borough Quarter Sessions. 1679/80 Son Randle Turner witnessed a Quaker marriage in Shrewsbury.
