Ship Saranak


Liverpool, England to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
16 January 1850

DISTRICT OF PHILADELPHIA - PORT OF PHILADELPHIA
I, Theodore Julius do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the Report or Manifest subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the District of Philadelphia contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the passengers which were on board the Ship Saranak at the time of her sailing from the port of Liverpool or which have been taken on board at any time since; that I am at present, and have been during the voyage, master of the said vessel. And I do likewise swear that all matters whatsoever in the said Report or Manifest are, to the best of my knowledge and belief, just and true. (Signed) Theodore Julius. Report or Manifest of all the Passengers taken on board the Packet Ship Saranak whereof Theodore Julius is Master, from Liverpool, burthen 816 & 15/95 Tons and owned by ? Cope & Co. of Philadelphia and bound to Philadelphia.
Columns represent: name; age; sex; occupation; to what country belonging; country of which it is their intention to become inhabitants. All the passengers intended to become citizens of the United States, so that column will be eliminated here.

Transcriber's Notes:     

* #12 by his name this note: "born 27th Dec 1849."
* #16 age probably 26.
* #27 perhaps surname could be Perkinson, though clearly written Percason.
* #32 England written in country column, but very lightly, as if it could have      
  been erased. He may have been from Ireland as previous passengers were.
* #33 surname probably Spink.
* #50 damage around this area, but first number looks like 3.  For occupation, 
  seems to begin with f, then 3 more letters before cutter.
