I, Brufen, Master of the Steamship Maas do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said Steamship Maas at Rotterdam from which port said Steamship Maas has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died. Transcriber's notes:
There were definitely two people recording the passengers on
this manifest. Passengers 1 through 309 were recorded by one
person whose handwriting was quite good. Passengers 310
through 452 were recorded by a second person whose handwriting
was very faint in most cases and not as neatly written.
? represents letters or words that couldn't be read accurately
due to imperfections on the film or poor handwriting.
All passengers intended to inhabit the United States and to
save space I have eliminated the column pertaining to this.
The Death column has been eliminated to save space even though
there were two deaths on the voyage. Passengers 369 and 399
both died on the voyage.
The passengers were not numbered on the original manifest.

Correspondence added 11 March 2007, SPOOLDER FAMILY, LENDERINK, ten BRINKE
Johannes Spoolder (born ca 1825) was a Catholic farmer and married Hermina nee Overbeek
(born ca 1842) on 28 January 1858 in Haaksbergen, Kingdom of Holland. In addition to
the above listed children they had two additional offspring; Berhard Johannes Spoolder, born
in Haaksbergen in about 1860 and Mary Hermina Spoolder born on 24 May 1881 in Vinemount
(now known as Leopold), Missouri. Bernard remained in Holland and married Engenlia Schippers
on 28 January 1893 in Haaksbergen. Hendrik Lenderink (#356) and Bernard H. ten Brinke (#357)
were both Catholic farm laborers, unrelated to the Spoolder family. However, they were both
bachelors and accompanied the family to America, also settling within the Vinemount community.
