Transcriber's notes:

The original passenger list had been torn in several places and mended with
adhesive tape which darkened over time, making many of the names very difficult
if not impossible to read.

The preprinted form used to record the passengers contains a spelling error
as noted by an * in the sworn statement.

The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read due to the
quality of the orignial document.

There were no entries in the column for deaths on the voyage, therefore,
I have eliminated this column.

To save space, I have shortened United States of America to read U.S.A.

The following notes are listed by passenger number:

  2. J.A. Schank?l - The name is either Schankal or Schankol.
  4. through 10. - ???cis - The first two letters in the name are impossible
to decipher accurately and I believe the third letter might be an e.
 19. through 23. Reissen????n - The name is very hard to read but the third
letter from the end does fall below the line and could possibly be G.
The other letters are not distinct enough to read accurately. Descendants of this family
     spell the surname Rheingans.
 26. The given name for this passenger is illegible but is believed to be Nicolaus according to
     the descendants of this family.
 33. through 38. Bal??s - The fourth letter in the name is impossible to decipher
but the fifth letter is either I or E.
 50. Maria Margaretha Hess - Her age is believed to be 28 rather than 20, based on later
     records of the family.
 74. The surname is difficult to read due to the darkened tape covering a tear on the original
     page.
 75. The darkened area on the film makes it difficult to accurately read the surname.
 80. Gri?s?ng - Neither letter in question rise above other letters or fall
below the line. The name looks like it might be Griesing.
 85. ???? Hoffmann - There is an ink smear running through the name and it can't
     be read at all.
 88. Maria ??? Gort - The letters in this name are written too close together
to decipher accurately but none of them appear to be written higher than
other letters or below the line.
 89. Gertrude K?rn - The name is either Karn, Kern, or Korn.
 96. M?cle? - The name could be Maclea, Miclea, Maclen, or Miclen.
 97. and 98. H?lbl?ib - The name is either Halblaib, Halbleib, Hilblaib, or
     Hilbleib.
100. Brann - His occupation is very difficult to read accurately but it could
     be cigarmaker or cegarmaker.
105. The age of passenger 105 is either 5 years or 6 years.
108. through 111. These names fall in the same darkened area of the film,
making them impossible to read. Passenger 111 is listed as coming from
Gr. Dukedom of Baden but she appears to be a child of parents coming from
Kingdom of Prussia and I feel the captain wrote down the wrong country
     for this passenger.
112. Hab?rle - The name is either Habarle or Haberle.
117. L??ts??rn - None of the letters in question are written higher than other
letters or below the line but are not distinct enough to read accurately.
118. H?iler - The name is either Hailer or Heiler.
119. Sm?thl?p - The name is either Smithlap, Smethlap, Smithlep, or Smethlep.
120. Hack?r - The letter in question is partially smeared but it isn't written
higher than other letters or below the line and could be Hacker.

SCHRECK Family: (Lines 11-18) Christoph Schreck was born about 1802
in Morschbach, Rheinland, Prussia. His wife was Maria Margaretha Stiehl.
They migrated in 1843 with their six children and settled in Germantown,
Washington County, Wisconsin. Christoph bought 40 acres in Section 11
in Germantown on July 10, 1843. Maria Margaretha died before the 1850
census and Christoph remarried in 1861. The family is also found in the
Matthias Rheingans book and on census and church records of Kristus Kirche
(Christ Church), Germantown, Wisconsin.

RHEINGANS Family: (Lines 19-23) Johann Peter (Peter Jacob) Rheingans
was born in Rheinboellen, Rheinland, Prussia as were the first three of
his children. His was the first of several Rheingans families to come
to Wisconsin during the 1840's. The Rheingans family traces back to
A.D. 1570 in Bacharach, Rheinland, Prussia. This family settled in
Germantown (Dheinsville), Washington, Wisconsin area. The Matthias
Rheingans book has researched this branch of the family. An extensive
history of other Rheingans ancestors who arrived in this country in
1846, 1847, and 1848 is being compiled by a researcher. Most of them
are buried in a small church cemetery near Random Lake, Wisconsin.

IMIG Family: (Lines 24-32) Johann "Philip" Imig was born in
Rheinboellen, Rheinland, Prussia. His wife, Maria Christina Harter
(Herder) was also born there. They were married on 5 February 1826
in Rheinboellen. The children were born in Morschbach, Rheinland,
Prussia. The family settled around New Bernlin and Waukesha, Waukesha
County, Wisconsin. The family has been researched by Joan and
Charles Imig. Their research can be found at FamilySearch.org as
a Pedigree Resource File. Their address is also given on this site.
The Imigs can be traced back several generations in Germany.

KLUMB Family: (Lines 51-59) Johann "Jacob" Klumb was born in the
Rheinland, Prussia, (possibly Reich) on 28 May 1780. His wife Anna
Regina Klumb was born in Budenbach, Horn, Rheinland, Prussia on
16 August 1790. They married on 29 April 1815, possibly in Ellern.
The children were born in Ellern, Rheinland, Prussia. This family
settled in the Germantown area, Washington County, Wisconsin. Many
of them belonged to Kristus Kirche (Christ Church), Germantown,
Wisconsin. Information about this family can be found in "History
of Washington and Ozaukee County", the Matthias Rheingans Book, and
the Bast Genealogy as well as in U.S. Census Records. The extensive
Klumb family can be traced back several centuries in the German church
records.

PAULUS Family: (Lines 60-61) Johann "Christoph" Paulus was born on
24 February 1810 in Mengersheid, Rheinland, Prussia. His wife,
Maria "Katharina" Hoelz (Hultz) was born in Dichtelbach, Rheinland,
Prussia on 2 March 1820. They settled in Fredonia, Ozaukee,
Wisconsin. A child Eva was born in July 1843, only a month after
their arrival in New York, followed by eight more; however, it is
probable that other children were born in Prussia between 1839 and
1843. They belonged to St. John's Church in Fredonia and are buried
in the Random Lake Union Cemetery on Random Lake Road, Fredonia,
Wisconsin. More information can be found on census records, the
book "Naturalizations of Ozaukee County", research by Nathan R. Riley
found on Rootsweb.com, and the research of Jane Taylor, Wisconsin.
The family can be traced back for several centuries in the German
church records.

HOELZ (HULTZ) Family: (Lines 67-73) Johann "Martin" Hoelz was born
on 26 March 1790 in Dichtelbach (Rheinboellen film), Rheinland,
Prussia. His wife, Maria Margaretha Rott, was born on 22 September
1792 in Dichtelbach. They married on 2 December 1819 and had a family
of eight known children, of whom only six immigrated to America.
Margaretha died about 1841, so Martin and six children came alone to
America. The family settled in the Germantown area (Dheinsville),
Washington County, Wisconsin.  Martin purchased land on 10 July 1843;
he was a farmer. Some family members later moved to Milwaukee. Their
youngest daughter, Margaretha, married Johann "Jacob" Rheingans and
moved to Millville, Oakwood, Wabasha, Minnesota. The famil can be
traced back for centuries in the German church records.
